Orson Scott Card's 'Empire' coming to big screen

Producer Joel Silver's Silver Pictures has optioned Empire, an upcoming book from bestselling sci-fi author Orson Scott Card, for a big-screen adaptation. The novel is currently slated to hit bookshelves on November 28.

According to the Card's official Web site, here is the story of Empire:

The American Empire has grown too fast, and the fault lines at home are stressed to the breaking point. The war of words between Right and Left has collapsed into a shooting war, though most people just want to be left alone.

The battle rages between the high-technology weapons on one side and militia foot soldiers on the other, devastating the cities and overrunning the countryside. But the vast majority, who only want the killing to stop and the nation to return to more peaceful days, have technology, weapons, and strategic geniuses of their own.

When the American dream shatters into violence, who can hold the people and the government together? And which side will you be on?

Orson Scott Card is a master storyteller who has earned millions of fans and reams of praise for his previous science-fiction and fantasy novels. Now he steps a little closer to the present day with this chilling look at a near-future scenario of a new American Civil War.

Yes but it's in development hell.

Empire is more likely to be made at this point than Ender's Game.

There's no such thing as a Right Wing Conspiracy like Hillary Clinton had mentioned.

However, Right Wing is a simple term to use to describe Conservative folks who wants the Government to leave them alone.

Of course you're right. There isn't a right wing milita or some sort of organization nowadays.

But the word "Right Wing" has changed and we are part of it according to media.

With the recent election results, the media frames the issues, not us.

Like for example, Democrats should be red because they are closer to the ideals of former Soviet Union than the Republicans would ever be.

Can't believe this is being made into a movie before some of OSC's more proven works. There are so many to choose from. Maybe Hollywood is scared of some the Mormon undertones that are in many of his works?

Or maybe Hollywood is looking forward to turn OSC's novel into a movie where Conservatives are viewed as evil bigots and that is all our fault that the Civil War happened.

I read the book. It made me mad just because the above description never materializes. I mean it.
