I'm about 3/4 through the book. It is dynamite.

When you read the book you'll understand why they want to make a film out of this. And it's sort of like Card wrote it with a screenplay in mind.

The book is great but the ending did not seem to be that complete.

It's worth the read. But although the jacket notes say "most people want to be left alone" during Card's CWII, Card doesn't really address that issue, even in the afterword, which I otherwise found intriguing. I'd relate to "Empire" more if I were a connesur (sp) of scifi. This is the first book by Card I've read. I'd never heard of him until I found out about "Empire".

Dominic, save your card (no pun intended). Go to the library instead. Or try interlibrary loan if you have to.

This book was not Card's finest work. You have to read Ender's Game instead.

I think Empire has potential and is "well thought out" however the minor characters in the novel did not seem well developed and the ending needs work.

Perhaps, Card is writing a sequel that would answer all our questions.

We'll see.
