Dixie Chicks refuse to leave well enough alone (Chicks Get Owned! LOL)
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette ^ | 12/01/2006 | John Hayes

"I find Natalie Maines, Emily Robison and Martie Maguire conspiring with manager Simon Renshaw to intentionally deepen the rift separating the group from its fans. They're clearly shown planning ways to get the media to buy into the group's pleas of right-wing victimization, and trying to turn the anti-Chicks phenomenon into the band's defining element. That's it. I'm appalled. I've had it with these Chicks. The most remarkable thing about "Shut Up & Sing" is that although it's not a hostile documentary taking shots at the band, it reveals its members to be smug, arrogant and manipulative, intentionally growing the monster that cripples their career, then whining about it to the press.

It was easy for me to set aside their politics. I love their music. And I know Emily and her husband, Charlie.
It was great to see the soldiers, many back from Iraq, enjoying a night of music. Laughing and joking. It did my heart good. Bless their hearts. And yes, they are good ones to whom we can look to rise above any controversy.

Sorry. The concert in Austin was reviewed in my San Antonio paper this morning. We had already been told it was sold out by the ticket vendors. And, we did see the soldiers here in San Antonio. All three of our television stations did stories on their attending the San Antonio concert. As I said in the above post, it was wonderful to see so many, just back from Iraq, happy and enjoying themselves.

And, San Antonio, with four bases, is a very good "guage". Their San Antonio concert, a much larger venue, was also sold out in advance.

Then is shouldnt be too hard for you to provide proof a chicks concert "full" of soldiers in uniform. Or are you one of those people who use words like "full" to describe one or two..just to drive home a point?

Did they make any reference to the current administration and/or the wars?

If it had been "one or two" I would have said one or two. As I said, it was featured on all three of our stations. There were more than "one or two"...there were more than fifty at the very least. I have no idea how you want me to "prove" this to you but I do take exception to your suggestion I am being less than truthful. It would not benefit me in the least to do so.

The soldiers? No. They simply said when asked...that they did not care what the politics of performers were. They simply loved the music. Had they not been asked, I do not think they would have commented at all. They were there for the music.

I dont know how much faith I put into reports. They are claiming a "Sell out" at the Staples Center in Los Angeles with 13 thousand attending, however the Staples Center has the capacity to seat 20 thousand for concerts.

The ticket vendors had already announced the concerts, both of them, were sold out before hand. They would not do this if they were not sold out. They simply want to sell tickets. And I saw the crowd in San Antonio. It was certainly sold out.

All I can tell you is that the venue in Austin was a sell out. As was the one in San Antonio. This did not surprise me.

No, I meant the chicks. Did they say anything about the wars or the Administration?

They might be appearing in the round which would take away seating. That's what they did during their last tour several years ago.

And another thing...the tour ended on 12/5 so how could they have been in Austin last night? Seems you are confused about some things...maybe I should give you some time to collect your thougths?

btw, I read the review of the Austin concert from Mysananantonio.com...no mention of the troops. How strange that I cant find one reference....except yours of course.

I have no idea if they made comments during the SA concert. Yes, at the Austin concert last night. You have freepmail.

Exactly right. They had a hard time selling out the venue this time even with only 13k seats available. The day of the concert there were still tickets available. They even went so far as to raffle off a car. LOL~

Natalie told everyone she wont wear panties until the war is over...however she already went on Howard Stern show earlier in the year and said she doesnt wear them anyway. so I dont really get the point other than to draw attention to her....well you know.

I heard they only sold about 9000 tickets for their concert here in Dallas in the American Airlines Centre, which seats 20,000.
