We did.
We used balloons when we lifted off from Lake Fate, when we arrived at Loch Ness, when we went on the beer run,
*breathe*
... when we lifted off from Loch Ness, when we picked up the Thrust Ring in the Norwegian Sea, when we flew over the North Pole, when we left Kauai (Hawaii), and when we landed at Eniwetok.
That's where we dismantled them and sold off our huge jet engines.
All of our remaining flights, (to the Moon and Mars), have been using the thrust of Gas-Cooled Nuclear Reactor/Rocket Engines.
But those huge hot-air balloons seerved us very well!

So...will we ever need balloons again?

Balloons are only useful in atmosphere.
Do you want to have some hot air balloons flying around in the Castle enclosure?
I would be a little challenging, without normal circulation patterns, but it would be a lovely sight, wouldn't it?

Oh....I think I need to go to bed early tonight...my mind was conjuring something else...this is wierd...Hot air balloons in the castle? They'd have to be small, wouldn't they? Like the dragonettes?

No, not inside the Castle. In the meadows surrounding the Castle, just beyond the moat.
They wouln't have much room to maneuver, and we'd have to hand-build everything, but it might be fun!

It would certainly provide some "diversion" for folks who get tired of the same ol' thing ~~ looking out the portholes into endless space....;o]
Maybe we should ask for volunteers to help put them together...?

We'll ask Dead Corpse to provide whatever hardware we need from his capacious and industrious forges.
The baskets will have to be woven from bamboo, and we'll have to work out how to make plastic for the balloons.
We'll have plenty of gas for the burning, but we wouldn't want to do too much of this and tax our oxygen regeneration capacity.
I think it's "worth the candle."
