When I turn on my comp I get a big display that says "Spy Marshal"
I try to uninstall it and I get a window that tells me I must exit the program before I can uninstall it. There's the problem, there's no way to exit it. The only option is to purchase it.
It covers most of the icons on my screen including the fire fox one I usually use. I went into "my documents" where Netscape is stored and got here with it.
Yes, I'm logged on.
Mayhaps permit you to get to the control panel and add/uninstall programs...
Educated guess only....

Your computer is infected with a virus. That virus is called Microsoft Windows, or something spawned thereof.

SAS is the most thorough sweeper on the market today, IMO, and may take 45-60 minutes to run, but will fix problems usually only found/repaired by HiJackThis.
Use the link below to download SuperAntiSpyware:
http://www.superantispyware.com/downloadfile.html?productid=SUPERANTISPYWARE
It's a direct link. After you clean your PC, you can uninstall it if you want. It's 100% free (this version).
---I'm no expert but if you can get to "system restore" in help and go back a few days that might fix it--????
I use Linux, but referring to Windows as a 'virus' helps no one. Especially not Windows users.
Then, after Graybeard58 gets his spyware problem resolved, I say we track down and murder all of the people who inflict spyware, adware, malware, virii, and spam on humanity, and roast marshmallows over their burning corpses.
Or, avoid the problem by using a different browser. Try Firefox, or I got rid of a problem by going up to Explorer 7. Spyware attacks weaknesses in Windows because it is most popular and gives them best results.
I started using Firefox about a year and a half ago and haven't had any problems since.

One can always depend on at least one smart ass answer and it's especially refreshing coming from a noob but really if I want any s##t out of you, I'll simply squeeze your head.
Your suggestion in number 5 seems to have worked, I'm running spy bot right now to get rid of any bad cookies. Thanks.
I disagree. If they can somehow find a way to escape from that monstrosity, there would be fewer problems such as this.
I use fire fox exclusively but have had my daughter here over the holidays and I am sure she used ie
Problem solved though thanks.
Charming.
The problem won't be a cookie, but probably a rogue DLL or EXE. Let me know if you still are having trouble, after running Spybot.
Dude! I still love Windows. I love Linux also... but Windows is my first love. DON'T be dissn' my first love!!!
Don't hurl personal insults at someone who has asked for help and you won't get "charming" replies.

I don't normally reply in kind and for that I apologize.
