Thanks for the links. From what I read there, it looks as though I need to just leave things alone.
I tried to install FAH about 6 times using 6 different sets of instructions before I finally figured out 1) how to make a new folder [you wouldn't think it would be that difficult]; 2) to put the FAH-504-linux.exe file into the folder; 3) to do the "chmod -x..." thing; 4) and then to run a command in the console to run the program. That's OK--I'm never paying for Vista.

You can also try adding a "@reboot" line to your crontab file so FAH will start automatically when the system is restarted. It would look something like:

@reboot cd /home/FAHdirectory ; ./FAH504-linux.exe
