I've noticed a lot of hotels have a "green" policy, meaning they encourage us to "save the planet" by not having our room sheets replaced with clean ones every day. Last time I saw this, I declined the "service" and then made a little mark on my sheet with a pencil to see how honest the staff was. Sure enough, they didn't bother to change my sheets even though I requested it. God knows if they even changed the sheets before I got there!

I really think there would be a demand for hotels with bedding that was all completely washed every day in very hot water, including the blankets.
And hopefully also walls and furniture that could be cleaned up easily.
I don't know if that would be enough to rid a room of bedbugs, though.

the bed bugs infest in the mattresses and box springs. They only come out at night while the host is sleeping. I understand they are very difficult to get rid of.

Interestingly, even when I hang up the towels they replace them anyway. Maybe it's because of the tip I leave...

I notice it's some of the nicer hotels that are doing this. I think it's laughable that they're trying to guilt us into not having our sheets changed at the prices they're charging. If the budget motels have no problem providing clean sheets daily, I expect the better hotels to do so also.
