I think Steven Goldstein, the Chairman of the group Garden State Equality who adds If people don't feel comfortable with having their kids see That's a Family, "maybe New Jersey is not the right place for them." ...is a ARSE. He should leave NJ ASAP....
My daughter won't be watching that film. You can request that your child not see it. Or you can chose to have them stay home the day its shown. If my school intends to show it to my child I will have a problem with it. I have found if enough parents get angry the school will back down. If its a state mandatory issue I don't know what you can do... There are somethings that the school has no business explaining in my opinion and this is one of them.... I am going to call the school right now and see if its being shown here. I will let you know. ~~Pandora~~

I do see this isn't in the article; but it had wide radio coverage today. The families were not notified first. The parents weren't given a choice to opt out.

My daughter won't be watching that film.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Other children in the school will be seeing the film and discussing it among themselves. Your daughter WILL be associating with these other students. You can't "opt-out" of being in the company of the other students, who will have some influence over her that you will need to work overtime to undo.

Unless you have the option of private school or homeschool, your child is required by law to be in her government assigned indoctrination center. If you, or your daughter, do not cooperate with the government school bureaucrats, armed police will soon be at your door. ( Real bullets in those guns on the hip.)

Once in the school, the government will trash your and your daughter's First Amendment Right to free assembly. It will be the government bureaucrats who WILL tightly regulate with whom your daughter will associate. If she does not cooperate she will be punished. She will be associating with students who have seen the film.

Also...how a family is defined WILL have religious, cultural, and political consequences. By showing the film, the government WILL ESTABLISH the religious, cultural, and political belief of some of the students and parents, and will actively destroy, undermine, and subvert the religious, cultural, and political beliefs of others.

Remember also that this film is merely one of HUNDREDS of issues that are continually being fought over in the government schools. The fight is bitter, because it is impossible for the government school to take a neutral stand, and whichever side prevails wins a BIG prize. That prize is the hearts and minds of the next generation of voters.

Government schools are a freedom of conscience abomination!

Solution: Begin the process of privatizing universal K-12 education.

Garden State Equality was given credibility by McGreevy (they have a government paid office now).

50% (49.5% according to the poll) of parents opted out of their kids wacthing the video, in this district. That’s parents who bothered to respond to the poll (many didn’t because of the backlash or their position on the PTA, etc.). Those 50% of parents are called bigots, troublemakers, etc. These parents were not notified of this video or given the opportunity to view it in the beginning of the school year, prior to when it was shown, in December at one of the district elementary schools. Yes, the packet came home in September, but this video was not mentioned. Nothing about this video or the core curriculum was mentioned. Usually, every video viewed by students has to have a parent permission slip in order for that student to view the video. They kept this secret. For a reason, imo.
