An OLD bright red tea pot made in LA

Can anyone guestimate the value of an old tea pot? It's bright red (chinese red?) and made by Hall in LA. It's in good condition - no chips. Photo coming soon.

On the bottom, there is a square stamp that says, "Hall's superior quality kitchenware" and it has a (low) number to the right of it.

Curious as to the value of it to help me decide whether to sell it or not to an antique dealer. I ran across this while going through my stuff getting ready for garage sale.

If you know something about this, I'd appreciate your opinion. If you are one of those "vanity police" people, I ask you kindly to refrain from condemning me for posting a vanity thread and "eating up the bandwidth, etc." and I will extend the same courtesy to you as well. Thanks!

That's why I love going to garage sales!

You might want to check that other "junk" they gave you too.

Yup. Maybe.

We decided to take this and other things like an OLD transit and some Ball mason jars (bluish green, greenish blue???) to a local dealer and see what she says.

Will let you know via freepmail what we sold them for for your info if you want. Thanks again.

Thanks, I would like to know what you get for them. Something I can tell you from what I go through everyday - know what you want for the stuff before you take it to the dealer. There is nothing I hate more than someone trying to sell me something & they won't tell me how much they want for it. They will say stuff like, "I have no idea, you're the expert - what will you give me for it?"

Most dealers will make you a ridiculously low offer if you do that. Know what you want, make your asking price a little bit higher than you will accept (leaves a little room for bargaining - all dealers will make you a counter offer) - but don't make it so high they will not take you seriously. Just remember most dealers try to double or triple their money - & even then, their profit margin isn't that high. Overhead (rent, utilities, etc) eats up alot.

Good luck & let me know how it goes!

Well, it's nether Meissen, nor Sevres, nor old Ming porcelain. Thus whatever value it might have, is not going to be large.

Naw, you are right, it ain't going to go for big money. But way more than what I was going to price it - $2.00 - at our garage sale. Learned tonight that it will go for several hundred bucks or a little more. So, it's pretty good. Thanks.

If it's a little tea pot

and it's short and stout,

it could be worth many farthings.

True, but there's always a competition to see who posts it first. I won for a change - LOL.

Did you get your question answered?

Your best bet is to do your own research.

It just might pay off ($$$$$) then depending on strangers you don't know ... .
