I had it before I left for Alaska. So I couldn't start it out now that I am up here, but luckily I already had it.

I wondered about that.....maybe someday. I have friends in the lower 48 that can call me without issue.

She is cute but years ago when she was just simply a mayoral candidate for my town of Wasilla she was being backed financially by the owner of a popular bar to maintain our infamaous drinking hours which are almost 24, there were people that wanted the bars to close at 2am but they have always been at least 22-23 hours they could legally stay open, and they still do.
Living in Alaska is NOT for anyone.

Its remote from everything. Its the only mainland state without freeways and just a few major cities. You have to be a hardy soul to survive up in Alaska. Good luck on your move up to the 49th.

Alaska native can be anybody native to Alaska. An Alaska Native refers to a person indigenous to Alaska. Hence the difference between Alaska native and Alaska Native. Just north of Fairbanks in Fox is the Turtle Club for true Alaska dinning. Takes a real man to eat the miners cut. My best to those moving to Fairbanks.

I worked there while I was in the Army at Ft. Wainwright and also for a while after I got out. The Chena was a very interesting place. Good people, bad people and very weird people. I have a lot of stories about that place. Some funny and some pretty sad. But thats life.

it ain't where the map says that its atWow! Thanks for pointing that out, that darn Mapquest didn't mention the big drive over water! To all: thanks for your comments. I now know that it's colder here at home than in Fairbanks! I wonder, are the moose required to be licensed? Is there a set moose season, or can you just pop 'em off from the back porch any ol' time?

If anything bad ever happens to your eyes as a result of some sort of conflict with anyone named Nanook, the only way you can get it fixed up is to go trudgin' across the tundra - mile after mile.

It was 22 above today along the yukon today and sun is coming back; warmest its been in a few months, but I'll take it.
We live rural, bought a satellite phone; really only needed it once; glad I had it.

Actually, North Pole is in Alaska
proper, about 14 miles SE of Fairbanks
It's where all the letters to Santa
come back from. Thank's for the good
memories about my visits to a great
part of the world.
