Just tried to post...very sad.
I wonder if he would have been able to cover a mare with the cast on his leg. Admittedly I know nothing of the sport, so I'm unsure if this would have violated any rules.

How sad! He had heart, though, and that's how he lasted this long. A brave little horse, and I'm glad they didn't put him through surgery again.
