I often took her with me, to reassure the frequently alone women I encountered that "if my dog loves and trusts me, I'm probably not an axe murderer..." How true that is. There's something about a person a dog trusts that is reassuring to those around them. Dogs just always seem to know.
I know how what your loss feels like, Backhoe. My sincere condolences.
