Glam rock ended.

Punk was glam rock without the outfits.

Johnny Thunders was the last great glam guitar hero and the first punk rock star.

So many punk riffs were cribbed from T. Rex and the New York Dolls.

Just saw the New York Dolls last night on PBS's "Soundstage" series. David Johansen looked like hell but they gave a decent performance of some old and some new Dolls material. I saw Johansen perform twice with Syl Sylvain in the summer of 1979 and they put on a fantastic show--particularly the stuff from Johansen's first solo album and a smoking cover of the Donna Summers disco hit "Hot Stuff."
