I want Landry back. He had class. I hear ya. As a Cowboy fan and an Republican, I want Landry and Reagan back. Sadly, it can't happen.

Hopefully he only has a 2 year contract and there will be some better options out there in the next year or two.

I'm sure it will be a short term contract. 2 yrs. 3 max. They are obviously grooming Jason Garrett, he of the Princeton degree, to be the next coach, that's why they hired him before the Philips. But a) He's not ready just yet b)JJ thinks he can win now (so do I) so a guy with experience in the 3-4 D and tons of coaching experience is the right move for the short term.

You asked about the success of the team. Success in the NFL is defined by two things:

1) Revenue

2) Super Bowl Championships

Since Jerry has been in charge of the Cowboys, only two teams have won as many Super Bowls as the Dallas Cowboys (1993,1994, and 1996), they are San Francisco (1989,1990, and 1995) and New England (2002,2004, and 2005). I am being generous to San Francisco since Jones technically purchased the team after Super Bowl XXIII.

Dallas is 163-144 (including the playoffs); 3 Super Bowls with 12 playoff wins. Out of 18 seasons, they have had 10 winning seasons.

Relative to other teams, that appears to be successful.

That's been the prevailing theory. I hope JJ has Garrett locked in, if the Cowboys do happen go places in the next couple of years Garrett may be gone to be head coach somewhere else.

Believe what you want to believe. It's your team. Just don't be surprised when those Super Bowls keep eluding you.

I have always been a Cowboy fan. I have never said one bad thing about Mr. Landry.

I wasn't talking about a specific person, just in general.

The more I hear from Wade "Son of the Bum" Philips the more I like him. Did you see the press conference?

I loved it when a reporter asked him "How will you handle Terrell Owens?" and he replied.

"Terrell Owens, I said his name right? (unlike Parcells who referred to him as the player, that got some laughs from the media throng) First of all, I don't 'handle' players, I work with them."

Good defense wins Superbowls. I think he will be fine. I also don't think TO is such a problem as most make him out to be, but he does require a firm hand.

The results will tell the story.

The thing I like about Wade's 3-4 vs. the Parcells 3-4 is that they are much more agressive. They don't play the same 2 gap scheme and use more stunts and blitzes.

The players will love it. Who knows, maybe Spears and Canty will get within 4 yards of a QB next season.

How about on the offensive side, what do you think? Seems Jones loves Sparano and he hired Garrett first and loves him. Who's the offensive coordinator exactly?

I guess it remains to be seen who wil be calling the shots on offense, but they will (again) need to improve the play of the o-line if they are going to really challenge. I don't know whether it is a lack of talent or poor coaching, but they need to give the QB more time, and set up the run better. Barber will probably get a lot more work next season, but it will all count for nothing if they don't get that o-line better.

I'm going to say something I can say on FR, but would be slaughtered if I said it here in Texas. Roy Williams ain't that good. He's a big hitter who can be beaten. A lot. I don't think it's a speed thing. Safeties need to be smart, and Williams gets outsmarted a lot.

As to the Tuna's play-calling, nobody ever called worse games than "Bozo the coach." I think Phillips is a good hire. I like Mike Singletary a lot, too, but haven't seen what would make him a good head coach. Lovie Smith would be great, but Phillips, I think, will surprise people with the quality of team he puts on the field.

Funny you say that. They sent Flozell and Andre Gurode to the Pro Bowl. You have to admit the offensive line wasn't much of a problem once Romo became the starter.

They must love him. The big guys up front can miss a block and he'll escape, saving them humiliation when reviewing the game tape on Monday. Sure the guy beat me, but hey no harm, no foul, right? Bledsoe was a statue, although he has a great arm.

But maybe you can help me with something. Jones loves Sparano and then he hires Garrett. Who exactly is the O coordinator? Committee? Garrett handles the passing game and Sparano the running game? This is strange.

I agree and disagree with you. The o-line can do a lot better, and Romo performed well despite them, not because of them. Gurode was a late replacement to the pro-bowl. They will need to give Romo a lot more time, but that is not all. They seem to be pretty bad at setting up the run, and that cannot win Superbowls.

I have no answer to the Sparano/Garrett question. I read from some of the reporters that Garrett is there specifically to babysit and develop Romo while learning to be a head coach in 3 or 4 years time, while Sparano will continue to run most of the offense. It seems a little contradictory, to say the least.

What do you think, will TO be back?

There is no question. Yes he'll be back. Hopefully once his hand is healed he won't drop so many passes.
