CAD CUPID FACES RAP IN ID THEFT OF EX-LOVE

Instead of an arrow, a man named Cupid put a dagger straight through his former lover's heart - figuratively - stealing her money and identity while she was stationed in Iraq, authorities said.

Malik Cupid, 31, of Harlem, was arraigned the day before Valentine's Day - which also happened to be his birthday - on charges he stole $1,400 from his sweetheart and impersonated her online.

Westchester District Attorney Janet DiFiore said Cupid was charged with grand larceny, identity theft and eavesdropping.

Between May and November, while his ex, Terra Melson, was serving in Iraq with the Army, Cupid assumed her identity and transferred more than $1,400 electronically from her account at a White Plains bank into his own, according to a criminal complaint.

Loverboy also allegedly pretended to be Melson on her America Online account "through various ruses," and intercepted e-mails to and from her.

No plea was entered at Cupid's arraignment, but his lawyer, Jaime Santana, said later, "My client is unequivocally innocent of all the charges."

Santana said Cupid and Melson had "an ongoing relationship for some time, throughout and up until" the time Cupid was accused of the charges.

He said Cupid worked as an administrator for the state of New Jersey, but didn't elaborate.

Cupid is listed as the chief of staff for the New Jersey secretary of state.

Cupid was released without bail until a May 15 court date.

This Cupid, a Democrat working for the New Jersey Secretary of State, stole from a soldier stationed in Iraq.

It was awfully nice of the judge to let Cupid out for Valentine's Day. Hopefully, he won't be visiting your home any time soon.

Not related to identity theft, but due to the automated pay system there have been some problems with non-serving spouses changing allotments and screwing up their servicemember's finances while they are deployed.

Now you have to change your account passwords at least quarterly by physically inserting your ID card into a Smartcard reader (to read the chip on the ID card).

That makes sure that it is the servicemember making changes in the dispositon of their military pay, but that probably wasn't the case with this scum bucket, anyway.

This scum bucket allegedly moved money from the soldier's bank account to his own personal account, and tried to intercept messages to her AOL account.

He also was field director of the New Jersey Democrat State Committee. More of the Jersey Democrat culture of corruption. Since a corrupt Jerseyite politico isn't exactly earth shattering news, I guess the mods moved this thread to chat.

You know, I'm amazed at how the mods categorize posts. One time on this thread the Beslan mothers (women who lost children at the terrorist attack on the school in Russia) went on a hunger strike, and their appeals and letters, sent to various freepers was probably a nice feather in JR's cap, but it all got moved to 'bloggers and personal'.

Another time, a former hostage from the Moscow theater wrote in this thread about Anna Politkovskaya, the heroic Russian reporter who was recently murdered. You would have thought that it too would have been a nice catch for this site, but it got moved to 'Smoky Backroom'.

Buckhead was lucky not to have his expose of Dan Rather moved to 'Political Humor' :-/
