(WBZ) MARSHFIELD -- In the middle of a library packed with kids, a man is arrested for online porn. Police say the Marshfield man brought his own computer to the library and was sitting in the young adult's section surfing the Web.

On Friday -- during vacation week for some students -- the Marshfield library was holding a special program for kids. The place was packed, and in the middle of it was 59-year-old Dennis Spectman, who had his own laptop computer and was allegedly looking at child pornography.

Police say, was watching child pornography at Marshfield's town library.

"There were kids all over the place," said Library Director Ellen Riboldi. "We had a children's program that morning. We had several hundred in the lobby all day long, and this person wanted to sit in the teenagers area."

Police say Spectman brought in his own laptop computer and used the library's wireless signal to look at child pornography. The library staff normally blocks such Web sites, but on Friday there was a software problem.

"I had my IT consultant on the day of the event come in and take a look at it," said Riboldi.

They pulled the plug, but not before police saw what they needed to see.

Prosecuter: …Observed a pornographic movie being played on the laptop. They also say that they observed the defendant as he was watching the movie moving his left hand back and forth over his groin area.

After being released on bail, the suspect said little.

Bill: Can you just answer why you were doing this in the library?

Spectman: I just have no comment to make, thank you.

"It's very frightening when we think what's out there," said Bob Quigley of the Marshfield police.

The library in Marshfield blocks a lot of the pornographic sites. According to Bill Shields, some libraries do not believe in blocking anything. Librarians say this incident is a good example as to why certain sites need to be blocked.

So just how did this pervert know that the blocking software was not working on this one day, so he could bring his laptop in to jerk off to kiddie porn?

I doubt that it was a one day problem. It had probably been down at least for a day before the library found the problem. Someone no doubt had to complain before they discovered the problem. I can’t imagine that they discovered the problem themselves.

This guy may have been coming in there for weeks surfing porn and watching kids.

He may have found out about it on some kiddy porn chat room.

With all those kids there they missed a great opportunity to teach them a lesson.

"Kids this is what we do to molesters" and disembowled the guy on the spot.

The American Library Association policy is to sexualize children. But here we see yet another library defying that policy and instead acting on behalf of its community's children. Bravo! Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

The article also says, "Librarians say this incident is a good example as to why certain sites need to be blocked." <sarcasm>The ALA will hunt down these librarians and force them into reeducation camp.</sarcasm>

What to label this as?Disease, psychotic, perversion?I thank the Lord everyday that I have never seen any of that nonsense.I am over fifty, and know many men who buy playboy and things of that nature. Not I,as it never interested me all that much.I do not know what I would do if I were ever exposed to it.I expect I would flip out and after spending some time in the slam for breaking the law among other things being broken,[offender],I would do whatever I possibly could to see that it never happens in my hometown again.I have eight grand children, and the thought of anything happening to them makes my blood boil.I hope this offender spends the rest of his sorry life in the worst prison imaginable doing EXTREME hard labor, and fed bread and water.See how much he enjoys that.Sorry for the long post, but I feel a need to take my blood pressure medicine.May god bless the children because it is apparent our elected officials wont.Rehabilitation has proven to be a waste of good money. It does make the libs happy, otherwise many would be out of a job.It is a known fact that pervs can not be "cured".PS can someone enlighten me on how to make a paragraph with this keyboard.I had to learn it on my own. Thanks

I know a few people who in their mid-teens became hooked on porn through public library computers. These cases will only increase. Then librarian activists will try to normalize the behavior with special viewing rooms.

You said, "I know a few people who in their mid-teens became hooked on porn through public library computers." Oh really? Would they be willing to tell their stories on my group's web site?
