I had a secret fantasy that Wecht based his opinion of the “no methadone in ANS’s system” in advance of the autopsy results being released as his having seen the container in the fridge photo, lol!

Such a sleuth, he figured she left it at home.

Pepper777 - you are so right! I can only imagine how Howard the Scholar ‘lorded’ so many things over Anna and her underlings! And sadly, I’ve seen how uneducated and desperate people can be taken in by someone who can ‘spin a tale and will take them for everything they’ve got’.

I believe he used a superior attitude with Anna and with most everyone who worked for her, and they thought he was smarter and more powerful than he acutally was. I think He knew this as well, which fed his insecurity...

Of course, this is only my opinion...lol...and believe me, I have MANY more (opinions about HKS, that is)...lol

Hey Rte66,

I’m not sure I’m following your post. The person I know that was in the “Montgomery Camp” (actually, was someone my parents knew) and AS FAR AS I KNOW, it had nothing to do with drugs. IIRC, he was in Construction and it had something to do with Real Estate (which sounds a lot like HBT, huh? So, maybe I’m an idiot and my parents didn’t want me to know the truth back then?). But I think I remember it had something to do with construction ‘permits’ and that someone was OKing them without going through the proper process..Of course, I could be totally wrong..so don’t be mad at me...ok?

Good Night! Sorry if I asked too much and didn’t respond to all I asked, but I really like the contributors to this blog. It also offers information, and keeps me questioning things as well. Thanks! And Good Night!

Oh, “mine” were all white collar, financial crimes, too. I just meant that “one” of them was also a drug dealer, along with owning some S&Ls and banks and things.

I just threw that in, because of GBT’s crime being more drug-related than financial.

” Isn’t it a crime to transport drugs to the Bahamas? Surely someone knew what was in that duffle bag.”

I’ve heard Methadone is NOT allowed/legal in the Bahamas, period. They could have easily transported the duffle bag and who knows what, via the boat, back to the Bahamas.

(I’m still reading posts from 2 days ago. I just hate to miss any of the informative posts on this thread.)

” Mr. Shelly SORRY that he set Anna up in the Bahamas...”

I wondered if the Shelley’s would feel guilty about helping Anna go to the Bahamas. Imo, they thought they were helping her, but now realize they helped HKS to further isolate her and help steal baby DL. They are not responsible for what happened. Like so many others, they were taken in by HKS. They probably wonder if Daniel and Anna would both still be alive if they hadn’t left CA.

If only Larry B had gotten her away from Stern. Even Larry seems to be mesmerized by HKS at times, only to be stabbed in the back by him.

Well, I’m sure all the ‘white-collar’ and ‘drug’ stuff all runs together (for both mine and yours) because money is involved in all of it, without a doubt! Sad, but true...Good Night Rte66 and thanks for the good info and feedback.....kcw

“”GASTROINTESTINAL SYSTEM:
The tongue shows a small focus of submucosal hemorrhage near the tip. “

The above is from the autopsy report you posted. I wonder what caused the hemorrhage on Anna’s tongue?? An injection of some type??

I just saw the photo you posted of Anna and HKS at the Hard Rock Hotel, prior to her death. She has that huge diamond on her finger. The autopsy report said she had NO jewelry on her body.

HKS would have all of her jewelry now. Since Daniel’s gone, I doubt anyone has an inventory of all of her jewelry. I hope Larry B or the Shelley’s have some idea of what she left behind, so Danielynn will get it, rather than HKS. grrrrrrrrr

Stern DNA Appeal Fails

By Quincy Parker

The road has been cleared for the results of a DNA test on the late Anna Nicole Smith’s six-month-old daughter Dannielynn Hope to be revealed on Tuesday during custody proceedings in the Bahamas Supreme Court.

Lawyers for Howard K. Stern on Monday morning withdrew an appeal against the use of the DNA evidence taken from Dannielynn after being confronted by the Justices of Appeal with the incongruity of the appeal.

Mr. Stern is the child’s presumptive father since his name appears on her Bahamian birth certificate as her father.

That certificate, and Mr. Stern’s designation as the child’s father, has been challenged by LA photographer Larry Birkhead, Ms. Smith’s ex-lover who also claims to be Dannielynn’s father. Mr. Birkhead has waged a crusade for months to have Dannielynn submitted for a DNA test to prove he is her father.

Damian Gomez, who appeared in the Court of Appeal before Justices Emmanuel Osadebay, Lorris Ganpatsingh and Hartman Longley on Mr. Stern’s behalf, challenged the authority of Supreme Court Justice Stephen Isaacs to order the DNA test of the child on constitutional grounds.

Mr. Gomez argued that Dannielynn, who was not represented in either the Supreme Court case or the appeal, had a constitutional right to her own DNA that the court ought to have protected.

However, Justice Longley pointed out that both parties in the Supreme Court – Messrs. Stern and Birkhead – applied for the same relief.

On March 14, Mr. Birkhead sought for the court to order the DNA test, and on March 19 Mr. Stern asked for the same thing, only he wanted a different DNA expert to conduct the test.

The justices pointed out that Mr. Stern had submitted the child for the test, and was in fact present when it was done. They said it was incongruous and inconsistent, therefore, for Mr. Stern to then turn around and argue in the Court of Appeal that the test shouldn’t have been done.

“You seem to have put the cart before the horse,” Justice Longley told Mr. Gomez.

Justice Osadebay said that the DNA test wasn’t challenged on constitutional grounds in the Supreme Court.

“If a right is being breached, and nothing is being complained about, you give the judge the impression that what he is doing is right,” he said.

Justice Ganpatsingh said he was “a bit perplexed by the application.” While he reserved comment on what he called “the merits of the matter,” he said he thought it inconsistent to allow the test in the Supreme Court and then argue in the Court of Appeal that it should not have been done.

Mr. Gomez conceded the point, and withdrew the application.

The withdrawn application paves the way for proceedings on Tuesday to move ahead as planned. It is anticipated that the results of the DNA test performed on Dannielynn Hope Marshall Stern will be revealed at Tuesday’s Supreme Court hearing.

What we can learn from Anna Nicole Smith’s death
Palm Beach Post Staff Writer

Sunday, April 01, 2007

My psychiatric nurse practitioner, who prescribes and monitors my medications, found something weird (or should I say something else weird?) about the death of Anna Nicole Smith.

There were no antidepressants in her system.

According to reports, Anna Nicole had been suffering from depression since the death of her son and birth of her daughter in September. Anna managed to get ahold of a smorgasbord of other drugs, but no one apparently thought she should take an antidepressant.

Instead, she was taking drugs that are considered very risky to give to a depressed alcoholic and/or addict: classic “downers” and others that are habit-forming. I don’t know how Anna Nicole got the drugs. I do know this: The girl had a serious substance-abuse problem. That was pretty obvious from watching her painful reality show.

I also know, because my nurse made a huge issue of this when I first saw her, that there are certain drugs that should be avoided or only carefully prescribed to addicts and alcoholics with depression. Drugs like Valium, Ativan and Klonopin, all from a class of drugs called benzodiazepines that are risky to give to an alcoholic and/or addict — especially three at a time.

Ativan is an anti-anxiety medication. My mother took it in hospice, and, boy, did it work. Klonopin is the drug to which Stevie Nicks was addicted. And Valium, well, let’s just say a lot of us know what Valium feels like. Then there was Soma and Methadone, both habit-forming. And finally Noctec, a very old sedative that is rarely used and must be used — especially by an addict and/or alcoholic — with extreme caution.

But no antidepressants.

If we learn one thing from Anna Nicole’s death, maybe it should be this: We all need to be more careful about the drugs prescribed to addicts and alcoholics who have depression. We, the people who suffer from these diseases, and those who love us and treat us, should know this and start paying attention to what’s in the brown plastic bottle and who has access to it.

Unfortunately, a lot of people — including doctors — don’t know this. I’m not passing all the blame onto the doctors. Addicts and alcoholics with depression need to tell their doctors about their addictions before the doctor writes a prescription for a sedative, antidepressant or anti-anxiety medication. There is a lot of denial out there, and addicts and alcoholics can be great liars.

Still, I believe that doctors and psychiatric nurse practitioners who treat depression with any habit-forming or mood-altering drug should thoroughly screen the patient for substance abuse, like my nurse practitioner. How hard is it to ask a few questions? Such as: Is there any substance or alcohol abuse in your family? Has anyone ever told you that you drink too much? Have you ever had a DUI or faced any drug charges? Do you live in a household with an addict or alcoholic (who might want to “borrow” your prescription)? Have you ever been to a 12-step meeting?

Why ask? Because as many as 37 percent of alcoholics and 53 percent of addicts also have at least one serious mental illness. Of people diagnosed with a mental illness, 39 percent abuse drugs and/or alcohol. We’re talking about millions and millions of alcoholics and addicts who are being treated for depression. They need to know — they deserve to know — that their prescription isn’t going to worsen their other mental illness.

So if you are a doctor, a friend, a parent or someone who cares about someone with depression — especially an addict or alcoholic — just ask a few questions about what’s in that little brown bottle.

It’s just a few questions.http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/content/accent/epaper/2007/04/01/a3d_cs_depress_anna_0401.html?cxtype=rss&cxsvc=7&cxcat=2
