Anna Nicole’s Therapy Fears

NEW YORK (April 2, 2007) — Anna Nicole Smith was “an insecure little girl,” according to one of the people who knew her best.

Alex Goen, the CEO of TrimSpa and Smith’s boss before her death in February due to a drug overdose, told Access Hollywood the model suffered from serious anxiety issues. In an exclusive interview Goen said he tried to get Smith to seek treatment for some of her issues.

Did Anna Need Therapy?

“I thought she needed to address her insecurity problems,” he told Access correspondent Tim Vincent. “No one should have that challenge – that type of anxiety that she had. She clearly had major confidence issues. I know in many respects she looked like the most confidant person in the world, but behind that confidant face, she was an insecure little girl.”

Two weeks ago, Broward County Coroner Joshua Perper confirmed Anna Nicole was a determined woman whose mind was not easily swayed.

“She was a very strong kind of person and she was the one in command,” Perper said. “If the boss is telling ‘I don’t want’ you don’t question the boss many time. Whether that was wise or not is another question.”

Her strong will may explain why despite Goen’s repeated attempts, Smith continued to avoid the therapists couch.

“How many times can you say the same thing? We probably had the conversation in the last five or sixth months after Daniel’s passing 20-30 times and prior to that another 5-10 times,” Goen said of his therapy suggestions. “I suggested strongly many, many times that she needed a therapist and she was always frightened of getting therapy because it would be leaked out to the media – her life and some of the different insecurities that she had.”

What did he mean she needed a therapist? She had a live in therapist and wasn’t KE on Goen’s payroll, too?

“Her strong will may explain why despite Goen’s repeated attempts, Smith continued to avoid the therapists couch.”

His statements sure contradict the constant presence of ‘prescription pad Eroshevich’.
