Yes it is young and hyper. My dad walks with the dog 1 hr every day.....but probably doesn't play actively with him as would be best.....OH - we have to wait til the poodle is 18 mos old for this to stop??? Ugh. Okay.

little dogs are real hyper - my 2 small dogs chilled out once they reach about 18 months old.

He could train the dog but I doubt it would stop until the pup reaches about 18 months old.

Is this a toy, mini or standard?

We have three yorkies and they tend to go nuts when we return from home or just outside without them. Cesar Milan (love that show) says that mother dogs do not tolerate that stuff and you have to ignore them. Do not look or talk - nada. Now if your dad is like my hubby and thinks it is cute, it may take longer. We have the mom, dad and baby (who is a year and half) and they all will go crazy. I have managed to stop that shrill-assed barking when I go through the gate to the chickens/barn. I just turned around and "shhh'd" and pointed at them. Took three actually days to accomplish that and I was so proud of myself. LOLL
