1st season was great
This 2nd season leaves something to be desired. Vorenus and Pullo as crime lords, give me a break.

It was "Gangs of Rome". I thought I saw Daniel Day Lewis in the big fight scene!

I have to disagree with you. I thought it was fabulous. A perfect blend of history and poetic license/drama. Second only to the Sopranos.

Actually the main director, producer, and creator of the show, is Bruno Heller, who I happened to have known some years back. A terrific writer. Not quite David Chase, but then, who is??

After watching this, I had little sense of why Antony and Cleopatra is ranked as one of the greatest love stories of all time. Nice touch that Caeasarion was saved but it is inaccurate. He was Pullo's "replacement child".

Well-regarded Right Wing renegade director John Millius (Magnum Force, Red Dawn, Conan the Barbarian) is an exec producer who also wrote a few eps. His fingerprints are all over this show. Awesome.
