Thanks for your kind words! Wasn’t there a Stoat in “The Wind in the Willows”?

I actually wrote a long reply to you this morning and then the electricity went off and erased it all.

I’ve been away from FR just because I have many other responsibilities and interests and some involve actual people... Sigh, I need to sleep less.

I started the Moral Absolutes list to cover moral decay, why it should be turned around, and help people become aware of the gravity of it, and how much worse it’s getting. Basic moral absolutes are essentially the same throughout history and all over the world, in every religion, and by rejecting them we are ushering in an era of unimaginable barbarity and ultimately anarchy, which will be followed by totalitarian repression. I have a wonderful quote from Edmund Burke which says it beautifully; I’ve posted it numerous times on FR.

Every really great thinker, seer of truth, moralist - says the same thing. For instance, the Golden Rule - do unto others as you would have them do unto you - is extant in every religion in the world, including Buddhism, which isn’t really a religion, sort of a quasi religion. The basic virtures of sexual restraint, honesty, loyalty, forbearance, forgiveness, fortitude, sobriety, charity - are the same throughout history. I’m not saying that every culture or society was an embodiment of these! But any society which rejects the basic moral asbolutes spirals into ruin very soon.

I was planning to write an essay about the universality of moral absolutes with examples from all kinds of religions but never got to it. I should, though.

The real question is; would a bunch of idiots who let a “young man” be a live in boy-friend for their 14 year old “child” actually have a problem with a 30 year old woman abusing their child?

Your characterization of a loving interaction between these two women as "abuse" is typical of the oppressive, heterocentrist, homophobic attitudes that plague our vibrant, diverse society.  It's precisely attitudes such as this which have caused so much grief in the world, including but not limited to the resistance to gay marriage and the closure of bath house facilities throughout much of North America.  As to the "parents" (biological birth-givers) they should have no say in the matter because all parties involved are sentient beings and influencing their natural behaviors in any way is tantamount to a rejection of the entire principle of Diversity and Progressive Change.

You sound like one of those evil "conservatives" that I've read about in The Nation, Pravda and The Worker's World, and your words constitute Hate Speech.  Prepare for imminent arrest and reeducation in the Homosexual Diversity Indoctrination and Reeducation Gulag where your mind will be cleansed of all thoughts hostile to the Homosexual Agenda and Forced Diversity through continuous screenings of "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert", "Oprah" and "Ellen" reruns and repetitive readings of "Heather Has Two Mommies".

You will be assimilated to The Collective, there is no escape.

You're quite welcome  :-)  I don't recall a stoat there, but I do remember Ratty and Mole, who used to enjoy "messing about in boats".

I actually wrote a long reply to you this morning and then the electricity went off and erased it all.

I'm honored that you would spend so much time and trouble for a scruffy old stoat, and your efforts are sincerely appreciated.  Hopefully, Santa Claus will put a battery backup system in your stocking this Christmas   :-)

Responsibilities are good...they help to keep us out of trouble   :-)

Agreed.

I was planning to write an essay about the universality of moral absolutes with examples from all kinds of religions but never got to it. I should, though.

It sounds like a nice project.  Be sure to get a battery backup before you start, however, and set your word processor to autosave every few minutes :-)

Successful graduates of the Homosexual Indoctrination and Reeducation Gulag are treated to a Coming Out Party that includes a Happy Gay Pride cake decorated with rainbow cookies.

Subjects who fail to graduate will be readmitted to the Gulag for more intensive therapy.

Awful, isn't it?  Perhaps the baker was still hung over from the effects of the drugs ingested at the disco the night before.
