When exactly does campaigning to maintain a GOP senate majority qualify as untrustworthy?

The only thing we should be upset about is that Fred still couldn't get Chafee re-elected, dislike him or not, he was the best a Republican could get out of Rhode Island.

I wonder if (gasp!) Ronald Reagan supported some liberal North East Republicans in order to keep the Senate in the 80s.
