A 31-year-old convenience store clerk suffered a minor gunshot wound late Friday when three masked men entered the business and one fired off a shot from a 30-30 lever-action rifle (think Chuck Connors in "The Rifleman"), Milwaukee Police said today.

The clerk a the Locust Quick Mart, 1432 W. Locust St., was grazed around 10 p.m., and was treated and released from a local hospital, according to Capt. Gregory Habeck.

The suspects were described as three African-American men, ages 17 to 18. Their motives were unclear, according to Habeck. The trio hadn't demanded money and left as soon as the shot was fired.

Love the Chuck Conners comment.

Obviously if the clerk was only grazed and treated-and-released, they were shooting it Chuck Conners style ... from the hip.

Funny, that line was just pulled from jsonline.com and earlier I made a comment that it was poor journalism to include such a comment.

The trio hadn't demanded money and left as soon as the shot was fired.

My guess is they already had their bag limit of clerks filled.

The clerk suffered minor injuries. A silver dollar and a dusty old hat didn’t fare as well.

I was wondering if the grazing shot caused the clerk's hat to fly straight up as he polished the counter...

Because the way it was written it was hard to tell if it was a direct quote or an inclusion by the writer.

I used to run across a few of these “riflemen” out deer hunting.
They would bring down their doe with 5 or 6 “minor gunshot wounds”.

OPINION -SPECULATION: It could be the suspects were inexperienced and scared.

Or maybe...

It could be something like a crime spreee Oakand, California experienced.

However, it’s too early to tell — not enough details.
