Is it just me, or does Matt Drudge get a little too excited about hurricanes?

Yeah, he over does it. But then, I live in Michigan.

It sure seems that those who price gasoline get excited about hurricanes.

Doesn't MD live in FloriDUH? Anyway, I don't think there are any hurricanes in the Atlantic at the moment.

It’s not just Drudge, all media, print TV and Internet get a charge out of sensationalizing natural weather occurrences.

Just wait about 6 hours and you’ll get streaming coverage of some lame-brain reporter tied to some telephone pole while he/she “braves” the elements to bring you this up-to-the minute report about the 50 mph winds whipping through the Florida panhandle blah blah blah.

Isn’t that kind of a personal question?

I'd guess they're kind of sweet and would give me a headache in the morning, but Matt might like them.

Yeah, I think he’s in Florida. Judging from the spastic headline on his site at the moment, he’s hopeful the tropical storm in the gulf will upgrade. :)

On a serious note, I had to cancel a Sunday/Monday fishing trip to the NC coast because of this. I’ve been out of touch with weather media for couple of days and only found out about it when I clicked on Drudge last night about 9:00pm.

What natural disasters do you have you in Michigan — other than Lloyd Carr, I mean. :)

Hurricane

1 oz vodka
1/4 oz grenadine syrup
1 oz gin
1 oz light rum
1/2 oz Bacardi® 151 rum
1 oz amaretto almond liqueur
1 oz triple sec
grapefruit juice
pineapple juice

Pour all but the juices, in order listed, into a hurricane glass three-quarters filled with ice. Fill with equal parts of grapefruit and pineapple juice, and serve.
You go right ahead, I'll have a beer.

Geoffrey Fieger, the Detroit Tigers and mosquito season. I don’t consider our Canadian overlord to be a natural Michigan disaster.

Drudge also froths at the mouth for volcano stories.

Which is kind of strange since volcano’s are not man-made explosions, but oh well.
