If the Yankees continue to cut the Red Sox’ lead at the rate they hvae been doing over the past couple of weeks, they will catch Boston on July 4.

The Yankees are finally getting it going. Their current 7 game winning streak is due mainly because their pitching is finally getting going. They’ve been hitting well all year, but their pitching was a mess. Now they got Clemens back, Chang is looking like his outstanding self again, and Mussina & Pettite are pitching adequate, the Yanks are doing much better. Their pitching rotation of Chang, Mussina, Pettite, Clemens, and 22 yr old Tyler Clippard should be solid, provided they can stay healthy.

They definently have a more than good shot at the wildcard. But they’re going to have to get within 5 games, before I can realistically start to get excited about the possibility of them catching Boston. I’m not saying it can’t be done, cause it certainly can. But I’m not getting too excited just yet.
