Orthodox representatives of Russia are sure that the existence of Voikovskaya metro station is equal to naming the street leading to the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour after Judah Iscariot.

So if Voikov is equivalent to Judas Iscariot, I suppose these folks are comparing the dead Tsar Nicholas II to Jesus.

If there hadn't been a Nicholas II, there never would have been a Lenin.

They’ve basically canonized the Romanov family over there. They’re frequently depicted with halos around their heads.

It seems the Russians these days alternate between the veneration of Nicholas II on even days and Stalin on odd days. Although the Orthodox authorities would never do so, many people see no contradiction in venerating both tyrants.

Reminds me of a clerihew:

What I like about Clive
Is that he is no longer alive.
There is a great deal to be said
For being dead.
It seems to be the sine qua non of sainthood.
