Never ever leave a child alone with an animal.

Police say a 2-year-old boy was alone with the famiy’s pit bull for only minutes when he was attacked and sodomized by the dog, a family pet that had never before shown any signs of aggression.Who woulda thunk?Lockport Police Detective Capt. Larry Eggert said the toddler had removed his own soiled diaper and asked to be changed just before the attack. His mother sent him into the living room to get a new diaper, Eggert said.
The boy was alone with the dog for only a brief time, Eggert said.
When the mother heard the boy scream, she walked into the living room and found the dog had mounted the child, Eggert said. The mother reportedly began yelling at the dog, which spooked it, causing it to run out the door and onto the porch, still attached to the boy.
On the other hand, who hasn't had a dog hump their leg? I've even seen spayed female dogs do it!
The use of the term "soiled" diaper makes on think that the diaper wasn't just wet. Is a mother likely to allow a "dirty" 2 year old to wander around the house?
Maybe the reporting is just imprecise.
There are some things that seem wrong about this story. For one thing, I’d like to know why the authorities are trying to get DNA if the dog did the deed...unless they think someone else sodomized the child. For another why are they looking for someone with first hand knowledge about the crime? Do they maybe think the story is bogus?
I don’t know...maybe this isn’t what we think it is. If it isn’t — a pit bull has been maligned and bravo to those who want to adopt it.
