What Will Happen
- Wisconsin will get out to a 9-0 start before losing to Ohio State in Columbus. The Badgers will bounce back to hand Michigan its first defeat of the year before beating Minnesota in the season-finale to go 11-1 and off to the Rose Bowl. Michigan will also finish 11-1 (helped by a win over Ohio State).
- Ohio State will start out hot thanks to its defense, and then will suffer a collapse at Purdue in a shootout. Losses at Penn State and Michigan will make Jim Tressels team an also-ran (but itll bounce back in a big way in 2008).
- Wisconsin, Michigan, Penn State, Iowa, Ohio State, Purdue, Northwestern and Minnesota will go bowling.
No conference championship.
Teams not playing each other every year.
How can you call this a power conference?
Michigan State. Wait a year. For Spartan fans hoping to end the yearly craziness and bizarre collapses, this season could be even worse in Mark Dantonios first year. The team needs to be rebuilt, remade and reborn...
I'm not quite sure what John L. Smith did to that program to leave it in such disarray, but I can't imagine Michigan State's expectations were that high coming into this year.
Funniest line I've heard in a long time from post game press conf.'s, the Spartans had beaten Notre Dame in South Bend, and when asked what it was like beating ND..."it's nice. But there's nothing like beating Boise State in Boise."
My darkhorse for this years Big Ten is Penn State. I was looking at an old copy of Street & Smith from 2002 and I saw that Ohio St was picked for 20th or so that year and they ended up winning the whole thing. Maybe Penn State can do that.
I future years OSU will play USC and Miami (FL).
I don’t care what the scheduling issues are like, the Big Ten still rules the collegiate sports world. GO MINNESOTA!!
And yeah, it IS the Big TEN, that means Penn State needs to get the hell out and join the SEC or something. They’re the eleventh member and an eastern school in a midwestern conference of ten. In a true fan’s book they don’t count.
they are totally dead on on the scheduling. The Big 10eleven has the lamest scheduling known to man. I don’t know why they don’t add a team and go to two divisions like the Big 12, or lose a team and go to a schedule like the Pac 10. Or just play 2 OOC games and have a schedule against every team.
