These “odd” pairings can work out quite well ... Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris did an album together a couple of years ago, which I think is quite nice.

I never had the privilage. One of my great regrets.

Robert Plant’s most underrated song, by far IMO, is “29 Palms.” A terrific performance.

Yes, but will they sing those evergreen duet standards I will always love you and TO ALL THE GIRLS I'VE LOVED BEFORE? How about Jackson?

The funny thing is those old Led Zeppelin albums were sonically heavy and loud in their time but today they are folk music. Folk music in the sense that the instrumentation is sparse, minimum of double tracking and overdubs. Very under produced compared to today’s pop music
I saw them once and thought the sound was thin. Loud as hell of course but thin. Zep really should have toured with one or two backup musicians for guitar and keyboard
Trivia— I had a friend who got into the back of the Boston Tea Party club and hung around a bit with Page and Plant. Both were doing heroin. Prolly was minor use of it but they did some

I think Alison stopped being a real bluegrasser a decade ago.Fully agree. Kraus went Nashville/Cashville and hasn't returned from there. (Not criticizing her on that, just observing.)
The better female bluegrass artists these days are Ronda Vincent, Clair Lynch, Laurie Lewis etc.
Thanks for the ping xs.

Norman Blake is a fine flatpicker. Kraus hasn’t been “bluegrass” for a long time.

I'm quite interested... Plant is an awesome blues and folk (and even a bit of country) singer. Remember LZ III, IV, and Houses of the Holy. And then there's Alison Krauss... Her voice could bring tears to the angels. I'm really looking forward to this.

This could be the most meaningful thread of the day, perhaps of the week if things don’t improve. It might be the sale of the WSJ last week that is causing this serious deficiency of meaningful news.

Don't forget the songs from LZ III. Tangerine and Gallows Pole. Though both are a bit folky. And then "That's the Way."

She’s certainly “post-the-pic” worthy!

I sat two rows from the stage a couple years ago. When she sang “Down to the River to Pray”, goosebumps!
