This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Thank you. Hope to have a breeding in March of 2008 with Keeley and her big bad boyfriend(actually very sweet tempered)Mojo from South Carolina. Should be some really big fat sassy pups.
My goodness what lovely dogs. :-)
Hi there...
I think Bay’s feet are “OK”... but it’s been really hard to tell when the footing has been either mud or snow and it’s been too crummy to really go out there and make him move.
It’s going to dry out here for a few days and one of my first goals is to clean him up and take a real good look at how he’s doing.
The thing about the Lynx and the bobcat that surprised me is how big their feet are... for a fairly small ‘big’ cat, their feet are as big as a saucer, nearly the size I might expect a cougar to be. Not sure I’d be able to tell them apart if I saw tracks, though I remember the cougar tracks we think we saw as being pretty big.
Why thank you. They are Shiloh Shepherds. They are a breed that came into being to look like the old GSD with the straight back and larger.
No wonder Bob likes Cabella’s so much :)
What beautiful dogs.
:) Good evening. I am now the proud (?) owner of BamBam again. The lady that bought her took less than 60 days to turn a mild mannered, laid back mare in to a raving lunatic that bucks and rears. I’m not sure how but probably letting her friend, the woman who knows all about horses terrorize her. Don’t know that she’ll ever completely trust strangers again.
She and said friend wanted to trade BamBam back for CJ - like, NOT on your life. And had the nerve to say when she left, check in hand - if you run into a horse that would be suitable for me, would you let me know? Like I would suggest anyone I know sell her a horse.
So - anyone want a good mare :)
I want to apologize for not keeping up here, but we have had a major family crisis happen and I've been very busy, and just not ready really to talk about it here till maybe now. Mack and I and our kids too could use all the prayers you can send. Mack is seriously ill. What we thought was gall bladder problems has turned out to be stomach cancer. He got very ill when the ladies were here visiting and never really got well, so we finally got him to the doctor. The cancer is a non aggressive type, but it has spread to his liver and also makes a hormone that caused some heart problems. He is just to weak and has lost to much body condition to risk surgery right now. I brought him home from the hospital day before yesterday to work on building him up, so we can consider our next option. He is not doing well at all...so prayers would be greatly appreciated.
This is very hard to post, I've tried several times, but it seems odd posting about something this serious on the internet, but we need all the prayers we can get. And I do believe in the power of prayer. If we can just get him eating better, I think he would get stronger and have a better chance of fighting this.
Becky
Thank you The girls(two white sables)are champions and we just beginning to show our male, the silver sable.
Dang... I’m sure BamBam can turn around again, I don’t think they forget everything in a month or two. Sorry that happened.
Thanks for posting this in public Becky... You and Mack are in our prayers and I hope he can find that strength you both need. Please let us know if and when there’s anything we can do to help.
Becky, you have my prayers - for Mack and for your family. I’ll put out the word also. Please investigate cimedidine (active ingrediant in Tagamet). I’ll find a link for you also to some good information.
I’m so sorry to here about Mack. If you need anything, we’re all here for you.
Thanks everyone:) It almost feels good to finally have it out.
Duchess...are you saying tagament is a cancer treatment...or would help him to eat?
Becky
