Spend half the morning trying to find an answer to this at the (endless) WOW sites. No luck. So I'm hoping someone here in Freeperland can help.
Q: Can WOW handle a wide screen monitor?
(I'm looking into getting a WS but "they" warn that some games are not [yet] set up for it. No luck find an answer -- or even the subject mentioned -- on any of the WOW sites I've visited.)
How do you mean “handle?” I have a widescreen and the game plays well at high resolutions. I think more depends on your video card than on the game itself.
I am familiar with some other MMORPG’s. Most should have their own player-driven forum where you should be able to get a better answer to a technical question.
My son has a 21” WS and I have a 19” WS and he plays on booth. Are you talking that size or a WS TV as a computer monitor like 52”.
The key question is how much memory your video card has, and how much you want to crank up the video settings of the game to make it look pretty with the nice texture mappings that give surfaces more visual detail. The more texture map detail you dial into the games video settings, and the higher the screen resolution, the more video card memory you need.
The big computer monitors, such as the 24" and 30" screens, provide the highest resolutions (most dots) and place the greatest demands on your video card's RAM size.
it couldnt handle my 70 shaman with 1k bonus nature damage and like 20% crit, so i quit.
Nerf the shamans! Nerf the shamans!
Our oldest is an Undead Mage and Raid Officer in BeefGoneBad on WOW. He is actually an Amn 1st Class in the USAF who is training on sattelite surveillance but still spends too much time on WOW. Anyways, he has a friend who plays on a 24” wide screen. He plays it full screen “at some ungodly resolution like 2200x1440 or something”.
