DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Powerball prize goes to an estimated $161 million Saturday.
None of the tickets sold for Wednesday night's night drawing matched all six numbers drawn, which were: 9-16-21-30-52 and Powerball 9. The Power Play number was 2.
Players matching all five numbers and the Powerball would have won or shared the $140.6 million jackpot. Click here to find out more!
One ticket that matched the first five numbers but missed the Powerball was sold in Pennsylvania. That ticket holder will win $200,000. Eight other similar tickets were also sold, two each were sold in North Carolina and Wisconsin and one each in Indiana, Louisiana, Missouri and South Carolina.
There was one Power Play Match Five winner in Louisiana.
Powerball is played in Pennsylvania, 28 other states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Now, I just need to plan on how I'll spend the $74.7 million cash value, or at least the portion of that I'll have after taxes.
No, I’m going to win. I’ve already bought the winning numbers. :)
No fair! Didn’t you mother ever teach you about sharing.
You've been misinformed-I have the winning ticket! :)
I might have an extra $10 dollars to gamble this week.
Good Luck! .....to me.

The main winners will always be those that sell the tickets and rake off the taxes.
I’m not much of a lottery player but when the jackpot gets into the 9 digits I will buy one ticket for the drawing. I’ve probably bought less than 50 tickets in my life, but just once I’d like to at least match the power ball and win a buck or two. I don’t think I’ve ever done better than matching one number. But I find the dollar spent always makes for some good times day dreaming about what I would do with the money.
Yeah, lotteries are a tax for those that are poor in math. Buy hey, just trying to have a little fun here today.
The multi-state Mega Million jackpot is also over $100 million tomorrow. Wish Powerball and Mega Million would merge. Seems like $100 million doesn’t excite me much anymore. Need that half billion dollar jackpot!
Or, as I told my boss, infinitely better than getting rich working for you.
Well I’m curious, how would you spend half a billion dollars?
Don't believe it! Math professors buy tickets.
I wouldn’t. After taxes, it’d only be about $150 million! :-(
Hubby doesn’t get them very often either but this jackpot was just tooooooooo big for him not to waste 5 dollars on. Besides, if he hits, I got plans! lol
Like, say, a divorce ;-)
just kidding
LOL, nope, he's my soul mate. We're gonna blow it together. Maybe buy an old government missile silo and convert it. ;)
Here’s a story on the subject : A guy prays to God every night to let him win the lottery. Time after time he knocks himself out begging the God to please please please let him win, until finally one night he hears the voice from above : “Buy a ticket”.
And if you hit it, you still wouldn't be as rich as what John Kerry married.
The odds of the “MegaMillions Powerball” racket are about 175,000,000 to one. The best way to make money in this shameless gubmint rip-off scheme is the same as in the gold rush : to sell picks and shovels to the aspiring public. Besides, I have a theory that the whole thing is rigged anyway.
All that being said, I’d still buy a ticket. Why? Two reasons: 1.It’s the only known way to win. 2. I’ve actually seen someone who won five million dollars - and they are not doing too shabby.
I like to play, but I’d be really scared if I won, given the track record of those that have.
Yeah, but I won't have to sleep with it either. That ought to be worth something.
Ain’t that the truth.
Now you’re in for it—you’re going to be inundated with the holier-than-thou who will lecture you on the terrible odds and that only idiots play the lottery.
We don’t have powerball in Florida but if we did, I’d sure take a chance on a nice big jackpot. A dream is worth a buck!
LOL! But what makes you think Lurch actually sleeps with Teresa?
That had to be a part of the deal. What else would she need him for? As the saying goes : if you marry for money, you'll earn every penny.
Here in NH we have Powerball, and in Mass they have Mega Millions. So it's easy to get tickets for both. I wonder what the odds are of one person winning both jackpots in the same weekend?
I hear the typical lotto winner gets lots of death threats. I bet they'd really pour in if anyone won both these jackpots!
It’s funny how every one calls the lottery a tax on the stupid until the jackpot goes up to 100,200,or 300 million. I’m gonna buy a couple bucks worth and enjoy the dream while it lasts. That’s about all expect for my $2 bucks is some excapism for a few days.
