Jersey's Attorney General Asks 12 Internet Companies If They Have Convicted Predators On Their Sites

At least 269 convicted New Jersey sex offenders had profiles on MySpace, according to information provided by MySpace in response to civil subpoenas issued by State Attorney General Anne Milgram. What are the chances that these predators created profiles exclusively for MySpace and no other websites? Probably not good, but Milgram wants to know for sure. She has sent a letter to a dozen Internet social networking sites to determine whether convicted New Jersey sex offenders have created profiles on their websites. The letter was sent to Xanga.com, Facebook, Community Connect, TagWorld, Bebo, MyYearbook.com, Tagged, Friendster, LiveJournal, Imeem, Hi5, and Gaia Online.

"Part of the letter," explains Milgram, "is also asking companies to identify for us what their procedures are and what their practices are when they have found a convicted sex offender on their website……MySpace obviously deleted all those profiles immediately, we have asked what these websites will do (and) I would hope that they will delete the profiles as well."

Milgram expects that MySpace users had profiles on other social networking sites and wants to guard against those convicted sex offenders whose profiles were removed by MySpace simply switching to other Internet sites. She says, "MySpace's identification of such a large number of registered sex offenders on its site underscores the need for awareness and action by all networking sites.''

The AG's Office has issued three subpoenas to MySpace, following the disclosure earlier this year that the website had been able to identify convicted sex offenders with profiles on the website. Information obtained from the subpoenas revealed that there were 269 registered New Jersey sex offenders with MySpace profiles. 109 individuals are on probation or parole. One who appeared on the list of MySpace users has been charged with a parole violation related to Internet use.

Liberals seem to assume that predators will be HONEST and FORTHRIGHT.

Do you REALLY believe that predator will accommodate them?

REALLY?

Unless you nail them for something they’ll go about molesting and murdering their prey as usual.

This is idiotic as the RIAA trying to stop p2p trading by closing down Napster. Think that one through. Pushing the pedos into the shadowier long tail of the internet based community websites only pushes the pedos to go after the most marginalized young members of online society.

Morons don’t understand the basic concepts of cause and effect, and social swarming in a social sciences perspective.

Hey, I don’t even think real sex offenders should be out of jail.

When I say real offenders, I’m not referring to the poor guy that got nabbed for urinating behind a dumpster.

Expect no relief from Corzine ... Newark is a “sanctuary” city and he does NOTHING about that. Instead he’s busily giving homosexuals MORE RIGHTS and dreaming up plans for EMBYRONIC STEM cell research. His plan to bring NJ back is to make is an EMBRYONIC research heaven - I think he floated a bond to fund it. He disgusts me.

>>>Newark is a “sanctuary” city

The whole state is. The grant funding is made possible by The Praxis Project which is a grant program of Robert Wood Johnson.

Robert Wood Johnson and Rutgers already partnered for the Stem Cell Research Center. Chris Christie is doing a great job; but I think he has his hands full to reign NJ back in. I wish the feds would come in and give this state a thorough shake down.

>>>Instead he’s busily giving homosexuals MORE RIGHTS

He has to. He is a Silver Member donor to the http://www.victoryfund.org

Thankfully ILLEGALS can’t afford to live in our neighborhood BUT I hear an occupancy permit maybe be coming to RESIDENTIAL HOMES s ILLEGALS can’t pile into a rented house.

GEESH! The more I find out about Corzine the more hopeless he is ... this is such a CORRUPT STATE - certainly more than others.

I’d love to see the Feds come in .... .
