I’m trying to give “Flash Gordon” a reasonable chance. But sometimes, there is an episode so dreadful that I throw in the towel and won’t go back. There was one such episode in “Battlestar Galactica” that was stupid I quit. This last episode of “Flash Gordon” with the Hawkmen was an eyeroller, and if there is one more like it I quit!
The two things on my mind throughout the episode: Are they going to explain how after disappearing from 1941 and being stranded in AD 200100 he reappeared in the 21st century? And, why does the guy playing Harper look so familar?
IMDB helped with the second question and Harper's got a Sci-Fi connection, once removed: He was in "Bleak House" on Masterpiece Theater, which costarred Gillian Anderson, who was the reason that I watched it. (For the uninitiated, that's Dickens, not sci-fi.)
I tried to watch Flash Gordon, but later on I was fast forwarding most of the show.. There are rumors that Flash won’t come back next year.. When they have the Hawkman glide instead of flying it makes me want to puke.. The movie was better than the TV show..
I already gave up. If I’d been home week 2 (or was it week 3), I might’ve sat through it, but after missing one, well, I took it as a sign!
Dr. Who seems to be getting better. This week’s episode was brilliant.
Tuesday night’s “Eureka” was pretty good. It’s nice to see some other characters being fleshed out a bit.
Saw the premiere of “Torchwood”, its encore and last night’s episode. The show definitely has potential!
Gave up on “Flash Gordon” half-way through its premiere. Haven’t been back since.
Jack.
Is tonight the season finale of the 4400?
The rumors are that both FLASH [no loss] and “The Dresden Files” [that will p*ss me off] are off the schedule for next year. Maybe they can double up on “Ghost Hunters” or the rasslin’ [ s/o ].
Maybe we should storm the headquarters of SciFi channel..
I was about to give Flash Gordon a try. Not worth it, huh? Okay..
I’ll come back to you about Eureka and Torchwood.
Es
Es,
Let say the movie version is better than the tv show..
Hi, Es:
I remember watching the syndicated Old School Buster Crabbe “Flash Gordon” serials early in the morning on TV ages ago before going to Swim Team Practice.
I really miss the cheezy sets and Z-Grade (Spaceships flying around with a sparkler in their back sides) Special Effects.
If you pay close attention, you’ll notice that one of Ming The Merciless’s favorite Hench Monsters, “The Dreaded Orangupoid” bears more than a striking resemblance to a later “Star Trek” monster; “The Mobutu”.
So far, the only film to come close to the over-all mystique of the original Cliff Hangers would be the soft-core, early 1970s, pr0n re-make; “Flesh Gordon”.
Jack.
And we're talking old movies, I suppose?
Hehehe
After that I have to check at least ONE episode....
Hey!
I remember those early morning shows....
Those were fun...hehehe
I’m talking about the 1980 Flash Gordon movie with Sam Jones as Flash...
As soon as I heard Flash Gordon wouldn’t have spaceships, I knew it would be crap, and it appears I was right. The Hawkmen gliding and not FLYING!? Are they trying to make this series fail?
I lower the standards for the show when I heard about it so I thought it was going to be one of those corn ball shows that is fun.. Boy was I wrong. Crap Crap Crap Crap Crap Crap Crap Crap Crap Crap Crap Crap Crap Crap Crap Crap Crap Crap Crap Crap Crap Crap and finally Crap...
