I'm not an LSU fan but I think their #1 ranking is perfectly fair considering their superior performance so far this season.

Never really understood the big deal over whose number one. As long as you’re in the top two thats all that matters.

The Tigermania on this thread aside, LSU struggled against #114 Tulane while SC struggled against #46 Washington. Seems hard to justify a ranking reversal.

South Florida, which knocked off No. 5 West Virginia 21-13 on Thursday night, made it into the poll for the first time two weeks ago. Now the Bulls are No. 6 in the country

That's right! Reccanize.

The vote is not unreasonable, but if USC and LSU meet for the BCS championship game; USC will win handily.

What a bloodbath.

It looked like Texas couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag.

With their performance all season, I wouldn't have them ranked.

“I’m not an LSU fan but I think their #1 ranking is perfectly fair considering their superior performance so far this season.”

I’m a Trojan fan, but I have to admit SC played horribly Saturday night and doesn’t deserve to be no. 1 because of that. A few bad calls by the officials against SC, but even so, there was no excuse for all the other penalties.

It reminded me of last year when they played very well against the ranked teams but screwed up against two bad unranked teams. Hope this isn’t a repeat of last year!

IMHO LSU deserves the #1 ranking because they play in the toughest conference and still win big every week. The FL Gators were overrated at #3 at the beginning of the season because of their #1 ranking from last year, but reality is beginning to sink in now that they lost at home to Auburn on Saturday and barely managed to get by Mississippi the week before. The Gators are going to be skinned alive when they visit Baton Rouge Saturday. IMHO they should be ranked somewhere around #15, and then only because of their excellent double-threat quarterback Tebow. Without him they would be about #25.

AFAIC the most surprising team in the top ten by far is South Florida. When I lived down there just a few years ago the University of South Florida didn't even field a football team, and now they're #6 in the nation. Way to go Bulls!
