When we change our clocks
Beginning in 2007, most of the United States begins Daylight Saving Time at 2:00 a.m. on the second Sunday in March and reverts to standard time on the first Sunday in November. In the U.S., each time zone switches at a different time.
In the European Union, Summer Time begins and ends at 1:00 a.m. Universal Time (Greenwich Mean Time). It begins the last Sunday in March and ends the last Sunday in October. In the EU, all time zones change at the same moment.
Spring forward, Fall back
During DST, clocks are turned forward an hour, effectively moving an hour of daylight from the morning to the evening.

How about allowing Congress to set forth an emergency provision to lengthen or shorten a day when the clock is ticking down to midnight on some piece of legislation?
The power of arbitrary tinkering.
Just decide where the clocks should always be set at and leave them alone.
I am also not happy with the calendar system. Too confusing. 31 days in July, 30 days in September, 28 days in February - but wait, every fourth year, add a day to February.
What the hell is that crap?
Here's my solution to the problem...
Have 13 months a year exactly four weeks long. That is, have 28 days per month with each month starting on a Sunday.
That neatly accounts for 364 days per year.
At the end of each year, use the extra day as a holiday. It can be called "New Year's Day" and nobody has to work. Imagine that! One day out of the year for a national party.
Every four years, New Year's Day can be two days long and we'll get all the drunker.
There you go. Calendar simplified. Just-like-that.
So when do you start this new calendar? What do you call this new month? When in the calendar year would a new month be inserted.
I say we just go by numbered days and forget months and day titles.

The early start was a welcome one, as it added more golf time. I’m sure golf courses really made more money too, especially farther up north, like here in WA state.
I am disgusted, was so ready to “fall back” today as we ALWAYS have.
OH! Did I mention I DETEST “daylight savings time” AND this extension of it in PARTICULAR...?!!!!
IN az I’d suppose it wouldn’t make too much difference? The variance that far south and all?
Up in WA state, during the winter, the sun goes down at like 4pm, up about 8am or so. Then during the Summer it is up at 6am, down at 930am. It definitely takes getting used to, but not quite as extreme as when I lived in Anchorage. In Anchorage, the sun would go down at 230pm in the afternoon, the dark just unbearable for that long. AK hard place to live, if you were not born there.
Another repetition of this useless task designed, implemented and continued solely to remind us of our powerlessness in the face of the mindless power of government.
Why have an extra day? Just say a year has 364 days in it and that’s that. Except for people like astronomers who would notice or care that a day is gone?
