So when Manning is still in the game in the 4th ahead by 2 td’s with 4 minutes left is that running up the score too?
It seems people like to bash the Pats when they do what every other team does or tries to do. I guess when you are the current best everyone want to take a shot.
Of course point differential is a tie-breaker in the NFL, way down the list but it’s there. So to a certain degree there is no such thing as running up the score. If the Pats-Colts game ends in a tie (just go with me on this) and neither team loses any games guess which of the two gets homefield throughout, the one with the largest point differential.
Or there’s always the Mike Ditka reasoning, given again during the pre-game show Monday: if don’t want people running up the score on you play better football.

There is no such thing as running up the score in a league in which point differential is still used as a tie breaker for getting into the playoffs. The NFL is one of those leagues.
If the D can’t stop the O, the O is going to score. And under no circumstances is that the O’s fault.
