State Police are searching for the wife of a southwest suburban Bolingbrook police sergeant. "Because he's one of our officers, we thought it would be better to have an independent agency investigating," Bolingbrook Mayor Roger Claar said of the state's involvement in the disappearance of Stacey Peterson. It was not clear how long Peterson, the 23-year-old wife of Bolingbrook police Sgt. Drew Peterson, has been missing.
She was supposed to help a friend do some painting, but never showed up.
Drew Peterson's previous wife, 40-year-old Kathleen Savio, was found dead in the dry bathtub of her Pheasant Chase home in March 2004. The investigation revealed Savio drowned. Her fingertips showed pruning from being submerged in water and her hair was wet when she was found. A coroner's jury ruled the death accidental. State Police investigated that case as well. No charges were filed. According to one official, Savio was Drew Peterson's third wife, and Stacey Peterson is his fourth. More than 20 years ago, Drew Peterson was fired from the Bolingbrook Police Department after the village board of police and fire commissioners found him guilty of disobedience, conducting a self-assigned investigation, failure to report a bribe immediately and official misconduct. He had been indicted two months earlier on charges of official misconduct and failure to report a bribe. Peterson was working under the auspices of the Metropolitan Area Narcotics Squad at the time. Indictments alleged he solicited drugs in exchange for information about his agency. The charges later were dropped. Drew Peterson won reinstatement with the department in March 1986. Judge Edwin Grabiec ruled police and fire commissioners lacked sufficient evidence to find Peterson guilty of the charges. The police sergeant husband of missing Bolingbrook mother Stacy Peterson visited the Will County courthouse complex in Joliet for about two hours this afternoon.
A grand jury is meeting in the building he entered, which also houses the Will County State’s Attorney’s offices.
Drew Peterson — clean shaven and dressed in a dark suit and tie — would not respond to repeated questions from reporters. Moments later — about 3:30 p.m. — the sergeant and his lawyers left the courthouse complex in a gray Volkswagen.

Also reported - Craig Stebic’s children were subpoenaed to testify before a Grand Jury.
I hope the Peterson pre-teenage boys are allowed to report what they witnessed in Stacy’s disappearance.
As one who believes the Government has no business taking away parents’ rights, there is a case for appointing a Guardian ad Litem when one parent goes missing under suspicious circumstances and the other parent prevents access by law enforcement and other family members. That might even be a case of child abuse - isolation and threats!

You know you're having a bad day when,in addition to being a suspect in the disappearance of your current wife,a previous wife's body is exhumed and a forensic pathologist changes the "method of death" from "accidental" (or "undetermined") to "homicide".
It looks as if later is coming sooner.
Still have not determined if wives #1 & #2 are alive and how many children he fathered. Most reports have 6, but one family member said 8.
I grieve for all of his children, whatever the outcome.

Will County Coroner Patrick O’Neil, who reviewed Savio’s autopsy, said earlier this week that there were aspects of her death that concerned him.
The autopsy report found that Savio had a one-inch “blunt laceration” on the left side of her scalp, her “hair is soaked with blood” and she also had abrasions or bruises on seven different places on her body.”
This clearly was a coverup involving the entire local department.
To have such a blatant homicide be ruled a suicide?
Where is the outrage? Or have they just not reported that yet?
So somebody wants to ask if Stacy helped coverup?

Just now on Nancy Grace - apparently one of the jurors for Kathy Savio’s inquest confirmed that the jurors were not given the option to call her death *undetermined* - only natural, homicide, suicide or accident.
The family spokesperson for either Savio or Stacy (not sure) said that she could not imagine Drew Peterson confiding in a *teenager* that he was responsible for Kathy’s death.
It is possible that Stacy may have, over time, found out more about Kathy’s death and was too scared to face the truth. Not so much *covering* for that monster, but not confiding in anyone. If she learned the truth perhaps she recorded her thoughts on paper or a computer.

Time will tell concerning Stacy I suppose.
But one thing that is crystal clear is that this man’s co-officers certainly knew this was a homicide and they covered for him.
Because they are the ones with authority - they should be the ones facing the music and being held accountable right about now.
Whether the young naive teenager knew anything seems secondary.
Interesting discussion on why, if Drew Peterson has been called a *suspect* he has not been arrested - might he flee jurisdiction - and what about endangering the children who is keeping isolated from other family members??
Theory is that he is not a flight risk - that the Grand Jury will soon hand down an indictment and he will then be arrested. Law enforcement has him in a vice-grip and are watching & waiting for him to slip up.
Family member is going to look into how to get custody of children away from Peterson.

The neighbor who went with Peterson & the locksmith - the guy who actually found Kathy in the bathtub - still thinks it was an accident...Peterson found the perfect useful idiot!!!!!
Don’t know that an ambulance & EMT were called - but you are correct about the first response police officers - they should have secured the *crime scene* and processed evidence. I am not sure anything of that nature was done.
Then, the City Medical Examiner and the Coroner - were complicit in the *good old boy* approach....by not fully informing Jury members on the facts, the science or the law.

The possibility has been raised that Peterson could have hired a hit-man - he had access to plenty of money from Kathy’s death, as guardian of their children who she named as beneficiary in her $1million life ins. policy.
He could have also had help with Stacy’s disappearing - he claimed she took $25,000(?) in cash from a home-safe. That may have been the kill-for-hire money. That way, if the hit-man were to be picked up, the money was *stolen* and Peterson is in the clear!
I know that’s a ludicrous scenario, but Peterson is a sociopath, not a scientist.
It really does matter who you are and what your local connections are.
I am still shocked and disgusted with many people in our local community who are willing to “overlook” our local OJ’s little problem with murder simply because he funds local sports programs and donates to local charities.
If his missing wife’s family had more money and influence you can bet these same people wouldn’t be so forgiving.
I am amazed when seemingly good decent people will try to justify their defense of a wife beater and wife killer.

It has to do with some sort of leftover feudal genes - needing a Royal or an aristocratic class to worship.
As recently as the 20th Century, we witnessed the phenomenon in this Republic - with the Royal Kennedys - and- with the Hollywood pseudo-aristocracy.

I’ve heard nothing about wives #1 and #2 except that he has 2 kids by each wife for a total of 8. One of the male adult kids (Eric?) disowned him around the time wife #3 died.
I think cops (from another jurisdiction!) need to look into any missing former girlfriend’s of this guy. He just might turn out to be a serial killer.
I believe I heard the neighbor identify himself as Peterson’s friend. He has been helping him out in various ways and swears that he trusts Peterson’s account of things. So he’s more than a useful idiot neighbor. He has hitched his wagon to Peterson’s reputation and wants to back that up in order to make himself look credible. Otherwise, he would have taken the more obvious approach of wanting to know what exactly happened to Kathy, because the whole scene was so bizarre and incomprehensible.
