Police Sergeant's Wife Goes Missing(Bolingbrook Illinois)
WMAQ ^ | 10.30.07 | Channel 5

Posted on 10/30/2007 4:52:37 PM PDT by Thebaddog

State Police are searching for the wife of a southwest suburban Bolingbrook police sergeant. "Because he's one of our officers, we thought it would be better to have an independent agency investigating," Bolingbrook Mayor Roger Claar said of the state's involvement in the disappearance of Stacey Peterson. It was not clear how long Peterson, the 23-year-old wife of Bolingbrook police Sgt. Drew Peterson, has been missing.

She was supposed to help a friend do some painting, but never showed up.

Drew Peterson's previous wife, 40-year-old Kathleen Savio, was found dead in the dry bathtub of her Pheasant Chase home in March 2004. The investigation revealed Savio drowned. Her fingertips showed pruning from being submerged in water and her hair was wet when she was found. A coroner's jury ruled the death accidental. State Police investigated that case as well. No charges were filed. According to one official, Savio was Drew Peterson's third wife, and Stacey Peterson is his fourth. More than 20 years ago, Drew Peterson was fired from the Bolingbrook Police Department after the village board of police and fire commissioners found him guilty of disobedience, conducting a self-assigned investigation, failure to report a bribe immediately and official misconduct. He had been indicted two months earlier on charges of official misconduct and failure to report a bribe. Peterson was working under the auspices of the Metropolitan Area Narcotics Squad at the time. Indictments alleged he solicited drugs in exchange for information about his agency. The charges later were dropped. Drew Peterson won reinstatement with the department in March 1986. Judge Edwin Grabiec ruled police and fire commissioners lacked sufficient evidence to find Peterson guilty of the charges. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call ISP Joliet District at 815-726-6377.

...the first two wives...

I've wondered about them, also. Odd that no news has brought them into the picture. Unless they choose to stay completely out ot the fray, I'd guess we will hear some words from them.

Please add me to the ping list.

I hope they send that creep Petersen’s friend who’s been badmouthing Stacy on Greta to jail along with hubby.

‘Keep me in your prayers’

On Oct. 17, she e-mailed a family friend, expressing concern over her deteriorating relationship with her husband. The e-mail was provided by the friend, Steve Cesare, to the Naperville Sun.

“i have been arguing quite a bit w/my husband,” Stacy Peterson wrote.

“as i mature with age i am finding that the relationship i am in is controlling, manipulative and some what abusive,” she wrote in the e-mail dated Oct. 17. “. . . tomorrow is our 4 year anniversary and I am not as excited as the years that have past.

“. . . if you could keep me in your prayers i could use some wisdom, protection, and strength.”

Stacy Peterson is the fourth wife of Drew Peterson. His third wife, Kathleen Savio, was found dead in an empty bathtub in her Bolingbrook home in 2004. The death was ruled accidental.

Drew Peterson and Savio were divorced at the time. Their two sons inherited the $1 million life insurance policy Peterson held on his ex-wife, court records indicate.

(coming into this thread from the back end, so this may have all been expressed elsewhere)...Spooky the name comparison of Stacy Peterson to Scott’s wife/victim; and now I see by the caption that their daughter is named Lacy....beyond spooky.

Cesare has known Stacy since she was a young girl, as he dated her older sister Tina in the 1990s. The two kept in touch after Tina died last year of colon cancer.

Cesare last saw Stacy two months ago when she surprised him at work with a picture album of her sister’s from when the two had dated.

“I couldn’t imagine this family going through any more tragedy,” he said. “They’ve been through plenty.”

Stacy’s mother disappeared a decade ago, seemingly without a trace. And before that, Stacy lost two sisters, one in a house fire and another to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, according to a family friend. A brother of Stacy’s has continuing legal troubles.

Those childhood hardships may have led Stacy to marry a man 30 years her senior.

“It was the picture of a controlling older man and I was always very cautious of it because this is a guy you don’t want to mess with, so I always kept my distance,” Cesare said.

Drew Peterson made it easy for Cesare to keep his distance because Stacy’s husband limited her phone use.

“Don’t worry about calling my cell anymore, or the house phone. I have talked with Drew, so no worries,” Stacy wrote in an e-mail to Cesare.

“I don’t think she ever had time to get away from him,” he said.

According to Cesare, this included when her sister battled cancer in a downstate hospital.

“I tried to arrange to drive Stacy to see her sister,” he said. “We were going to go for the day and would be back that night but her husband wouldn’t let her go with me.

“It didn’t make sense because we were going to see her sister and he wouldn’t let her go.”

Great finds Maggief.

Does anyone know if the State Police searched the plane that Drew Peterson owns? Check flight records?

I think that plane is important - Drew Peterson’s stupid statement that Stacy was at the airport - leaving with a boyfriend is beyond sociopathic lying!

**Police divers have searched a nearby pond, and investigators also have examined a micro-light airplane owned by Drew Peterson.***

Does anyone know how to get messages through to Mark Fuhrman?

We have a local case that is so incredibly frustrating and is just begging for someone like him to get involved.

Have you tried America’s Most Wanted? They may have more resources than Mark Fuhrman.

I doubt that the first two wives has as much of a problem with him.

He might have been an upstanding, eager policeman.

Being a cop is hard. Being a cop’s wife is no picnic.

Sooner or later the years of being ‘on the beat’ take their toll.

Midlife crisis just adds to that. You decide to trade your 40-year old in for two 20-year olds.

And, you don’t have to depend on money or looks, since you have a badge. You can ‘get’ anything you want.... you are a cop. You have power....

And when things go wrong, it’s easier for you to have your brothers squelch it.

She was 17 when he was over forty. She may have even been 16 when they first had sex. They got married when she was 17 and pregnant.

So,.... that’s rape (sex with a minor), is it not? Was she not underage, or is my math bad?

I agree there is something wrong with the picture of a 47 year-old, married police officer impregnating a teenager!!

[EDITORS NOTE: We get many comments regarding Florida and our posting of the age of consent as 18. You should understand that our definition of “age of legal consent” is the age at which a person may consent to sexual contact with ANY person not in a position of authority, etc. Using our definition, the age of consent in Florida is 18.

According to a family member - *his police buddies knew*. That whole department needs cleaning out!!!

So I guess she wasn't thrilled with the ring hubby gave her as he claimed. This bozo is SUCH a bad liar.

Their two sons inherited the $1 million life insurance policy Peterson held on his ex-wife, court records indicate.

Maybe it's me, but I'd be concerned if somebody took out a million dollar policy on me. Especially if that person was beating me.

Drew has been caught in lies and more lies. Somebody reported that policemen (at least in some jurisdictions) are required to take a lie detector test when involved directly or indirectly in a crime.

Even though the 3rd wife changed the beneficiary from hubby to children, on the $1million life insurance policy - (maybe $2million for accidental death) Daddy Drew probably was appointed guardian of that money.

Perhaps he is able to take child support out of their inheritance.

How much do you suppose he spent on that aircraft???

It’s an unusual case - murder without a body.

It was supposed to be featured on this past sat’s 48 hrs (A Time To Kill)but got delayed until the 10th because of the football game.

They got a guilty verdict in May, that was just tossed by the judge this past fri.
It will be at least a year before a new trial.

AMW - I thought - deals mostly with locating fugitives?

We know who did it - it just looks like they’re going to have to come up with more evidence in this coming year to seal the deal.
Since Fuhrman seems to be good about finding weaknesses in investigations - or spotting things that may have been overlooked before, I thought he might be good for this.

Those of us who are obsessed with the Anna Nicole Smith and Daniel W.Smith deaths(murders) wondered how to contact Mark Fuhrman - believing he was probably writing a book.

This might offer a way to contact him:

If there is going to be a retrial - he might be interested.

Thank you! I’ll give it a try.
Yes...the DA is appealing the judge’s recent decision, and that will take approx 9 months alone.
It does look very likely there will be a retrial sometime next year.
