I will be leaving FR. I will no longer post here and likely will no longer check the news here either. I began to post here a few years ago with updates on my attempts and eventual success at founding teenage republican clubs across New Jersey and the surrounding area. I used to run a ping list about the invasion of Islam into Europe. I ran an FR-based operation to try to change public opinion about the Iraq war using letters to the editor and "stats" e-mails. It seems however that as soon as I began to indicate that I was supporting Mr. Giuliani for the Presidency all of that was instantly forgotten and I was branded many of the things I'm sure are crossing many people's minds as they read this. I'm leaving before I get kicked off for my own opinions, I'm not a left-winger who comes to attack the website, I'm a conservative that comes to share my opinions, and if this is a place where certain opinions are muted out because some disagree then good-bye. I always thought it was the Democrats who believed that if you silenced people who disagreed with you, what you were saying became true. What a fool I must be.
If he knew of the drug running he should be taken to task for it. That is inly if he knew he did it, and he had not already done time in jail.
I cannot imagine that as mayor of NYC that Rooty911 did not have close enough of a notion that Kerik has ties to crime, or his alleged affair with Judith Regan. I think that considering Rooty’s friends is on the table... especially those he is pushing for higher positions in government.
You know, I’d agree, except for one thing.
If Rudy is President, he gets to put his stamp on the Republican party. His cronies will be runnin’ thing there. If that hapeens, the ‘Pubbies won’t be conservative any more and we won’t have a home.
If it comes down to that, I’d rather see Hillary! elected. Better an enemy at your throat than at your back.
While I do not like the thought of voting the lesser of two evils, I will not waste my vote and allow Hillary an open door. If Guiliani is in that position, he will get my vote.

I wouldn’t voluntarily vote for Rudy. I wouldn’t voluntarily vote for McCain. But if either is the Republican choice, I would walk on ground glass to vote for either in order to negate a vote for a dem.
That said, I have noted a tendency to eat our own here. Too bad because most righteous groups die from within.

Where do you get this information about “only left wingers”. That paints a description with a very broad brush. I am sure that there must be a factual basis for this generalization.

It’s not even alleged that Giuliani knew of those things. We can’t assume guilt based on speculation. It’s not fair. What you imagine isn’t enough to convict someone. Do you know everything going on in your friends’ lives? I don’t. And if you had a job as busy as mayor of NYC, you’d likely have even less time to concern yourself with those things. I have had plenty of friends do things that are wrong that I had no idea they were even doing until the bottom fell out on them.
In any event, innocent until proven guilty. Until we have evidence indicating Rudy knew what was going on, this speculation is about as empty as the charge that Bush knew Saddam didn’t have WMD. Let’s not feed the Democratic attack machine in case Giuliani is the candidate with our suppositions.
I urge you to reconsider your decision to leave. I’ve been an FR regular for more than a decade (first as Elwoodp; now as Lapster), and I find it an invaluable site both for news and commentary.
I’m sure you have been abused, as have we all, by a small contingent here that seems to take great joy in gestapo-like puerile behavior. They take some repugnant joy in hurling insults rather than engaging in serious debate and consider invective some sort of perverse artform.
But, as I say, they are a small contingent. And they, too have their rights, regardless of how badly they may abuse them. So, again, I urge you to stay and enjoy the rich fellowship of those of us who enjoy FR and take our responsibilities here seriously.

Posts #127 & 128 are NOT my idea of a purge. They’re my idea (for what that’s worth) of someone WANTING to be banned so they can run to whatever other forum they’re interested in and whine about THIS one.

In the few years I have been logging in to this site the same thing has been noted many times. Seems we are always getting less cordial; at the same time there is a great deal of maturity overall: probably that's due to the increasing age of the participants.
