The only thing I can recommend at the moment is the Debian (4.0) Sparc 64 port. I've got an ISO image here for the network install CD if you'd like for me to make it available. It's only a couple of hundred megs. Before you try to install it, check the errata at www.debian.org and make sure your hardware is supported. There are some "gotchas" with Sun hardware.

It's been very stable here on two Sun Netra T1-105s and one E250. I haven't had it running long enough on the E220s to say whether it's good on them or not.

IF you're feeling adventurous, I can say that OpenBSD 4.2 for Sparc runs on the Netra T1-105s. I had to install it the other week to troubleshoot a network adapter problem. But BSD is an entirely different "animal". It DID function though! :-)

If you're using SUS, you probably didn't notice Windows contacting the update service and downloading and installing updates despite the user having set preferences not to do so. And watch out for anything related to DRM -- it's not unexpected if you've had your lawyers read the EULA, but Microsoft reserves the right to do whatever it wants (unwanted network traffic, software updates, deleting your installed software) in relation to the DRM system.

This antiRepublicrat guy even created a thread here once using a vanity title he came up with of “Democrats ahead of Republicans on Open Source” when it was shown the DNC and practically all the Democratic presidential candidates ran their websites on Linux, while the RNC and Bush etc all used Windows. This is an outstanding article by a guy who knows what is going on. I found myself nodding in agreement and remembering his arguments so I could incorporate them. Thanks so much for posting.
