Shame on Musberger ABC and ESPN for naming the person that touched the ball....
coach’s step son...
Have you EVER seen anything like that??!! What’s the official sign for WTF on the field?!?
???

You could take what I know about football, put it all in a thimbel, and it would still rattle around like a b-b in a boxcar. So enlighten me “touched the ball”....where why, how, and what does it mean?!?!?!
Explain please why you are mad? Did not tune into game until after the problem.
I can't believe they haven't been class-actioned over this.
I still do not think that the coach touched it. Either way, it was a most unusual play. Why not name the coach because by morning he would have been outed by the national media anyhow.
Sorry, I was so rattled....Someone not a player touched the football on the field of play during the game and they keep showing his face and mentioned his name....Musberger and Hirbstreet are having an orgasm on the air...Clearly shadenfreud(spell)
...put it like this...the OFFICIALS, who know all about everything there is to know about football, all had the “WTF” look about them. It’s the screwiest play/ruling/ruling/new/ruling/ I’ve ever seen.
When the ball is in play, no one not on the field of play (legally) is allowed to touch the ball. Doing so is considered an illegal toching, and comes with an unsportsmanlike penalty.
Also on that play, it looked like half the texass coaches were on the field. That should have been a flag as well.
The fact that he touched the ball has had an effect on the game. It is as appropriate to name him as it would be to name anyone else who errors. He stepped on the field and became part of the game.
Coach Brown should leave his relatives at home.
I don’t think he touched it either. His hand snapped back like a bolt of lightning was flashing outta that ball.
Please don’t ever go into the news reporting business because I still don’t know what you’re talking about
Well if they know the person’s name in order to name him then that means the person is publicly a part of the team, meaning he’s in the program book, probably with a picture, and also probably on the team website, so anybody with half a brain in their could figure out his name. I mean heck, Musberger figured it out.

the sideline reporter asked someone what the kids name was and they told her his first name and she reported it.
i don't have a major problem with it. my problem is that they will show this kid throughout the game. over and over. and if texas loses this game (god forbid), this kid will never be able to go home. every student knows this kid and where he lives.
steve bartman, call the ticket office.
Your problem with that is what again?
I hate it when they mention who touched my balls...now what are U talking about?

"What in the Wide, Wide World of Sports is going on here?"
I thought you said, "Shame on that freaking retard for pulling the dumbest stunt in college football in a generation."
It's the idiot kid's fault for losing his composure. Don't blame ESPN for reporting. And besides, until ASU scored, the kid was fighting back a grin. What a moron.
I hope you have a big boat because I think a lot of people are going to be in it.
Wow, Bill the Cat really lives
I don’t think he touched it either BUT half the sidelines were on the field...so the “weird ass ruling” the refs came up with complicated it more than the snafu...
what else can you do but grin at a time like that? the texas sideline has been out of control all night. they already received a warning earlier in the game as i’m sure you know.
You know you are more than welcome to join us here...

Now I understand.
Thanks for clearing up this pea soup fog of a thread.
Thanks for insulting my son. And all other retarded people. I don't know why I shouldn't expect better from Freepers.
If possible, please refrain from using the term as a pejorative.
YUP Mr. Chris thought it was amussing to be all over TV until his step got a case of red aSS and the ASU scored
showing his two or three times ok but every other scene is overdoing it....Going out of the way to name him puts him in some danger, should Texas lose...Texas has three quarters left to play and the lead....But he will be the one that lost the game....That cubs fan didnât cause the cubs to play badly the last three innings.....if a ESPN employee did it would he be named? and his face shown endlessly???
If an ESPN employee did it he’d be dragged to the booth, and interviewed on every single ESPN show that could possibly find a reason to discuss the event.

I could care less about the fans or some other distraction.
Did anyone find out why the Arizona player number 4 got a personal foul penalty.
Just damn sorry politically correct feel goody coverage.
Half the time it is hard to tell where on the dang field the teams are located.
I understand your frustration and pain.
I don’t know. I had no idea what the post was about and the original poster refused to say.. I just googled Texas and Arizona State in the “news” section of google and finally found out what the op was talking about. I bet that’s him because he has a guilty look on his face.
The camera panned on him and I grabbed a couple of pics but I had the volume turned down so I don’t know why they would focus on him of all people on the Texas sidelines, but, as you say, he sure does look guilty of something.
Thanks for your reply. I’m sorry about your bro. It sounds like it has been awhile, but the memories don’t fade.
People like him and my son are at the mercy of this world. It sure would be nice to more of that much ballyhooed “compassionate conservatism” bandied here on FR.
whew...thanks for the link...
Wishing you and your family a peaceful and prosperous 2008!
Ha. I just saw the replay and it looked like the kid had some kind of “stupid” attack or something. He appeared to jump on the field, reach down, then pull back at the last second without actually touching the ball and then his stepdad shoved him back none to gently. It was kinda funny.
I hearing the fireworks at the stadium about 2 1/2 miles east of me here in San Diego at halftime
