Bye Bye Mitt
1/1/07 | Ebmiller

Mitt believers, is that headache you have just the hangover from last nights celebration or is it today's polls!

The "gold standard" poll of the Des Moines Register has Huck with a 6 point lead with two days to go!

Today's Zogby daily tracking poll has Huck building a lead for the past few days.

Huckabee has the "big mo".

Do the names ‘jedward’ and ‘4butnomorethan30characters’ sound familiar to you? One poster with many names.

Your posting resembles that one: the spelling, the writing style, etc.

Just wondering.

uhhhhh.... what science is used on your poll. errrr...I would expect about the same level of validity as something put out by the HRC camp or any other self directed poll. LOL

uhhhh....and you think conservative fundamentalists will win the Whitehouse single handedly? That’s about as Quixotic as anything I can imagine.

Never underestimate the power of a man who understands the importance of vertical stripes!

Seriously, do we really need another candidate from Arkansas?

uhhh....nothing you said has anything to do with my previous post. In your previous post you said, “More of your opinion, not necessarily shared by everyone.” And my response was:

True, but it is shared by the MAJORITY of us CONSERVATIVES on FR as shown in the present FR poll.

Which GOP hopeful is the most viable and reliable all around conservative, ie., pro-life, family, gun, constitution, national defense/security, sovereignty, borders, small government, low taxes, etc.

Fred Thompson
45.3%

Duncan Hunter
24.4%

Ron Paul
11.5%

Mitt Romney
7.2%

Rudy Giuliani
4.1%

Alan Keyes
2.6%

John McCain
2.5%

Mike Huckabee
2.4

uhhh...you are on FR, a CONSERVATIVE forum, promoting a liberal, Slick Mitt. The MAJORITY of us here have no interest in liberal candidates like the one you are promoting.

uhhh...you seem to have something against conservatives. Perhaps you should be over at RINOLAND.com or some other liberal site talking with like-minded liberals.

uhhh...we here on FR are proud to be CONSERVATIVES. Thank you very much.

I know conservatives. I am conservative. ..and you’re not.

You’re a poor excuse of a conservative, in your mission to elevate the left.

How many people are registered on FR?
How many people participated in the polls?
Was there any mechanism to prevent double voting?

The only majority you’re in , is being in with a group of thugs who are trying to make this some kind fundamentalist nut site.

Interesting response...

I think like several other Romney Fans here you are blinded by his shiny aura.

I have found that many here on FR, including our gallant host, know what conservatism is and what it isn’t. The statements of the members and your reaction to it also speaks volumes.

Perhaps like a few other of your Mitt peers who find this site and it’s members to be “3 percenters” “idiots” and as you say “thugs” among other things, you should not hang out with us “wacko fundamentalist” for it may make you guilty by association.

Sad really, you are giving up Conservatism for a Candidate who will not make the big show anyway, no matter what Fred, Huck or anyone else may do.

Oh really, wonder what JR thinks about that?

Must be the latest Romney talking points...”tell them to go to DU where they belong.” To quote Jim Robinson:

Uh, this is Free Republic. We advocate for conservatives/conservatism not RINOS/liberalism. We will continue to advocate for life, family, liberty, national security, individual freedom, limited government, low taxes, originalist judges and the constitution, etc, regardless of who wins the current election. You can shove your dose of RINO reality where the sun don’t shine. I’m sure it’ll do wonders for you.

B/S. Some of you guys are pushing the abortionist, gay agenda advancing, gun grabbing, big government socialist nanny state lying liberal RINO BECAUSE of his religion. Conservatives are pushing back. And it’s perfectly within their rights. NOTHING un-American about it. If fact, claiming it is, IS un-American. If you can’t stand the heat, get out! Take Romney with you.

The Huck should stick to preaching, and leave national politics to others.

How come he left the preaching game anyway? Has he ever explained that "career change?"

The only way they could have looked more ridiculus is to have them in bib overalls.

What was that TV show where they had "Daren, and my brother Daren, and this is the other Daren," something like that? Bob Newhart was in it I think.

I don’t care if he is mormon or not so long as hes not a preachy sort

Yes, it would be interesting..

“Please enjoy our forum, but also please remember to use common courtesy when posting and refrain from posting personal attacks, profanity, vulgarity, threats, racial or religious bigotry, or any other materials offensive or otherwise inappropriate for a conservative family audience.”

Some of the thugs I inferred , regularly violate a number of the terms above.

Think about the judges they pick, not the clothes. Please

Good idea. Has Huckabee made any statement about the judges he would appoint? Does he have any record from his governor days?

Perhaps.

But by implying that these "thugs" hell bent on turning FR into a "Fundamentalist" site are bad or ignorant for not supporting Romney and indeed spend a good amount if time pointing out the facts that belie his current "incarnation" as a Conservative, you are casting a very wide and very large net from a very small boat. Indeed in that net you are catching a large number of very active members and supporters and the very "fish" who brought this forum to us.

It is a fact that Mitt Romney is an impressive figure, and successful in his own right. He paints a picture of a good Conservative currently, and his stated positions are straight from the Conservative play book.

However, you will find that many on FR look past a promise, a wink and a nod. This is not a stock purchase, past performance can be indicative of future results.

The hard sell on Mitt Romney has been going on here at FR for some time and has had few buyers. Perhaps we are all ignorant slobs to not hop on his bandwagon and bask in his beautiful glory. Perhaps all you Mitt supporters are just vastly more intelligent and superior Conservatives to us foolish thugs

Maybe it is something else however....

He’s not going to win Southern states. Why not ? Two words: “Massachusetts Liberal.”

Sooo...instead, the South will vote for...a New York liberal nasty gun-grabbing female? A stone cold gun-grabbing socialist sleazeball shyster who spends more time on his hair than their wives do? ? A sleazy fast-talking liberal Chicago black guy who might be a moslem at heart? I don't get it. The South must be a mystery.

Wont it be great when we all coalesce around Huckabee once he gets the nomination and all this sniping will be a distant memory

I'd hold my nose and vote for him but no "coalescing" for me. I don't want to get anywhere near that guy.

Those are not the only options, but it is irrelevant, unless the GOP is getting really suicidal, we are going to get the candidate we need, even in the south.

BTW the GOP does not seem to be suicidal, indeed they maybe coming around a bit.

What this means is that they are conservative about their Christianity - and nothing else.

This should not be too surprising, considering that in the last thirty years the nation's seminaries have mostly become open-admission diploma mills turning out a flood of intellectually mediocre, leftwing post-Christian "pastors."

i don’t get it either.

Sometimes life is about the lesser evil :) I support Mitt Romney out of the choices that have been given based on several criteria.

And I don’t think he is as liberal as people are making him out to be. As for gay marriage:

“In 2006 he urged the U.S. Senate to vote in favor of the Marriage Protection Amendment.[70][71]”

He is not to be held responsible for the runaway train of liberalism in massachusetts. It has a lot to do with things not related to him at all.

Hey, Huck takes the "Big Tent" philosophy very literally.
