Tiger Attack Victims Hire High Profile Lawyer
Tuesday, Jan 1, 2008 @06:21pm CST
Two brothers who were injured by a tiger during a Christmas Day attack at the San Francisco Zoo have hired a high-profile lawyer.
The victims will be represented by defense attorney Mark Geragos whose previous clients have included Michael Jackson and actress Winona Ryder.
ABC News reports Geragos is expected to file suit against the zoo on behalf of Paul and Kulbir Dhaliwal. A friend, Carlos Sousa Jr., was killed in the same attack.
According to ABCNews.com, Geragos says of the attacks, quote,"there are some very disturbing facts yet to come about, about what happened."
He also cites revelations that the wall around the enclosure for the 350-lb tiger was nearly four-feet below industry recommendations.
In addition, Geragos called reports that the group had taunted the tiger ahead of the attack as "an urban legend."
The tiger was shot to death by police.
How San Francisco!
That said, while I think these “kids” (the oldest being 23, that is, not a kid) were jerks, the zoo is in big trouble.
Personally, I think the Diwahili brothers were trying to freak out the teenager who actually got killed, perhaps by threatening to boost him into the cage or something similar.
However, the zoo had had other complaints about the tigers leaping the moat and charging people who weren’t even tempting or taunting them, and the management had not responded or had just shrugged.
In 1999, a woman had a tiger leap the moat because her 4 yr old was bouncing around at the fence. She screamed and drove the tiger off, and then went to get a keeper, who told her that the tiger in question was a b***h and did that whenever it could, and he couldn’t do anything about it. The woman wrote a letter to zoo director that was never answered.
If the zoo gets sued, SF deserves it. The tiger facility was built in 1948, and they fired the guy who was going to redesign it in the 80s.

"There are some very disturbing facts yet to come out about what happened," Geragos told ABCNews.com. "One of the brothers had absolutely no reason to be attacked. After Carlos was attacked, this brother ran to the zoo café and they would not let him in. The same guys who sold him nachos wouldn't let him back in. They locked the doors. Thirty minutes later, he was attacked by the tiger."
According to those logs, firefighters and police officers were forced to wait outside for as long as six minutes by zoo security guards enforcing an emergency lockdown.

A prostitute you only have to pay if you receive "satisfaction."
I read tonite the coppers found vodka and slingshots in their car. Doh!
Happy New Year.
If I was mauled by the zoo’s escaped tiger while the zoo’s employees were keeping the rescuing police officers away from me, I would sue also. And I would want the biggest, baddest lawyer I could find.
I’m sure that you’re correct.
I just can’t look at that immoral hooker without getting sick.
If the boys had alcohol in their blood, the police would have had grounds for charges.
MOP for the 19 year old, providing alcohol for the older brother, driving under the influence. etc.
My guess is that the boys had no alcohol in their bodies and the cops were very disappointed.
Aacck! No photos! I saw the headline, closed my eyes as I clicked and did a Great Carnak prediction: “Gotta be Gera-gross!”
By golly, wish there were a prize to win.
Do you always think of Mark Geragos when you close your eyes?
: )
” ... whose previous clients have included Michael Jackson and actress Winona Ryder. ...”
Oh, and Death Row inmate Scott Peterson. Wonder why he leaves that one off his résumé, lol.
Only when I see “high-profile lawyer” in a headline, probably quoted straight from Geragos’s own press release!
And my guess is that, as we type, MG has already “rounded up” a band of gypsies that lives in a van down by the tiger moat.
They saw the whole thing, were the ones taunting the tiger, and have admitted to letting it out for a run after closing.
Geragos makes me ill
I figured they’d hired John Edwards.
Regardless of how the cat got out, the zoo put the public at risk by their actions after the first attack.
Crafty, for sure.
Can’t wait to get the florists lined up to inundate the tiger moat with flowers after Geragos puts a dummy of the dead body in it to show how that mean tiger went berserko on the saintly Indian boys who were just innocently visiting the zoo on their day off.
Well, then I guess the zoo gets Gloria Allred.
