Somewhere in one of my innumerable boxes of stuff, I have a vinyl album - remember those? - that has Tolkien reading poems and singing songs (including this one) on the front, and on the back he reads "Riddles in the Dark."



Some dude is selling this one on eBay - it's the only image I could find, so I guess I'll pimp his auction in return for yoinking his pic.

Huh...fascinating. It’d be interesting to hear what sort of melody he had in mind for some of the hobbit songs.

I’m sure a great deal of what has been made of his books would horrify him. ;-)
