Thanks for the info. If they are rare, is that normal for them, or just something which has occurred recently?

Some critters are timid, avoiding humans, or in relatively inaccessible habitat, so being seldom seen is actually normal.

INDONESIA, Jakarta – The researchers of Wildlife Conservation Society in Asia have taken the photos of one of the world’s rare rabbits — the Sumatran striped rabbit. A camera trap in the Bukit Barisan National Park in Indonesia captured the images of Sumatran rabbits. These special photos of the rabbit species are the only third recorded.
I’m not sure why because of the very rare sighting.
