In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

Imprimatur

Noun

    1. Official license or approval to print or publish a book, paper, etc.; especially, such a license issued by the Roman Catholic episcopal authority.
    2. Approval; sanction.
    3. A mark of approval or distinction.

Imprimatur is from New Latin imprimatur, "let it be printed," from imprimere, "to imprint," from Latin, from in- + premere, "to press."

She’s precious! And not likely to need braces either, the way her primary teeth are lined up. You’re lucky. I’m waiting for my youngest to lose a few so we can start orthodontia. But they are holding fast.

I don’t think I’m ever coming home. I can give you the “Cook” report and let you know we finally actually ran something (the auxiliary oil pump), but who wants those details?

I ate empanadas, which was foreign food and yet still very good. Like a Hot Pockets if they were made with care.

6 days into the mission they finally got me somethig like a proper table instead of the ersatz stepstool I was using. No, they didn’t buy a folding table, they had some carpenters hand-craft one for me. I don’t think it will fit in my luggage, or I’d take it home with me.

The weather is nice and the ocean and girls are beautiful. Being near the sea keeps the temperatures, while hot, manageable.

Hot sand, ocean breezes, beautiful women.......but then again there is a little girl who is missing a tooth and a Daddy at home. Good luck figuring that one out. LOL

I am glad you are managing to enjoy your banishment to Chile.....enjoy your reprieve from the cold.

Is there any way you can bring the family over there or is it way too expensive? I think I recall your comment on how pricey your ticket was to travel.

The engineers, or at least some of them, speak English well enough. It's working with the electrician workers that is more problematic.

When you can't convey "swap those ones (wires) with the other ones so we can test if the problem is here or there" without a lot of pointing at drawings and gesticulating, it slows things down.

That said, I got more done in a 6-hour "half day" today than I had on whole days earlier this week. Cause I had a good crew (people willing to work on a Sunday) and our translator engineer hung around most of the day cause there were no other jobs to attract his attention.
