MOBILE, Ala. -- Owner Jerry Jones said the Cowboys will pick up Terrell Owens $3 million roster bonus in March, meaning the big-play wide receiver will return in 2008. Owens is signed through next season, which is the final year of a three-year, $25 million contract.
Owens set a club record with 15 touchdown receptions. He finished with 81 receptions for a team-leading 1,355 yards.
Jones, who is attending the Senior Bowl workouts in Mobile, talked about a variety of topics Tuesday morning:
-- He will talk to veteran wide receiver Terry Glenn soon to determine his status for next season. Glenn had two knee surgeries this season and only played in two games. He played against Washington in the regular-season finale and against the New York Giants in the divisional playoffs. He is signed through 2010, but the troublesome right knee might force him to consider retirement.
-- Jones said there is nothing written in Jason Garretts contract that guarantees the offensive coordinator will be the Cowboys next head coach. No, not at all, Jones said.
-- Jones has begun targeting and talking to potential assistant coaching candidates in anticipation of losing three staffers as early as today. Cowboys assistants Todd Bowles (secondary), Paul Pasqualoni (linebackers) and Kacy Rodgers (defensive line) are expected to officially join the Miami Dolphins staff today or Wednesday. Garrett received a contract extension and raise last week to stay with the Cowboys after interviewing for head coaching jobs in Baltimore and Atlanta.
Very good! I hope they can keep the rest of the team together, and perhaps add some players to make it even better.
"Hey Um,Um,Um Terrel, could you put the popcorn away till we win at least one playoff game."
Looks like Glenn is toast. I suggest drafting DeSean Jackson (CAL), but they’d likely have to move up to get him.
That’s wrong, dude. Hide that photo before someone steals it and it becomes a staple round here, ala Helen Thomas.
I beg you.
Good. The NY Football Giants’ secondary will enjoy punishing again next year.
LEAVE TONY ALONE...HE'S MY QUARTERBACK...CAN'T YOU SEE HOW MUCH HE'S BEEN THROUGH?!?!?
BTW, thanks for that...stole and printed your picture to razz my hubby, LOL!
I wouldn’t mind keeping Glenn around for a year or two, if he would restructure his contract and be the #4 or 5 receiver. The young guys can learn from him.
