Well that's absolutely true: Some of the Giants receivers have things that they can do better than some of Patriots receivers.
Consider yourself...
So ummmm. After your earlier accusation of cheap shots by Patriots who not only didn't take cheap shots, but weren't within two yards of the injured player, why do you want to go there?
Keep on believing the Patriots are golden boys. The rest of us will watch the footage.
Go Pats!
We did. It was so obvious that not only there hadn't been a cheap shot, but not even a hit nor even a run-by, that you had to concede the point (and to your credit, you did).
Look, you have made your point well that Rodney is being called the dirtiest player in the NFL, but that doesn't mean any play he makes is going to be a cheap shot. Especially placing a predicted instance about his mindset. For you to outright say he wants to put one on Plaxico is in itself a verbal cheap shot. So at the very least, you're being a hypocrite.
You have ample evidence to suggest he's earned the title "dirtiest player," but that has no reflection on what he's preparing to do.
I imagine your pansy view of a cheap shot is much different than mine. Just as many have called him a "tough" player. Where are the polls for those opinions?
Hard to believe that Coach Smugichick thinks that we will...
All that matters is that the Patriots respect the Giants. The opinions of the fans and media are irrelevant.
If we don't come in with the Emotion Rheostat turned to 11 for 60 minutes of play time, we lose. It should be a great game...
Good luck.
Doesn’t the two weeks before the Super Bowl seem like a month when your team is playing in it?
I wasn't even trying to make the case that Rodney is the dirtiest player, just that he is considered a dirty player. Personally I like Rodney Harrison and always have. I also agree that sometimes hitting hard is too often called "dirty".
I consider a dirty hit a cheap shot away from the play when the other guy isn't looking, a hit in the back after the whistle, or a shot in the knees or to the head. It doesn't have to be with the helmet i.e. spearing either. A hard shoulder hit to the back while a guy is prone can cause paralysis just like a helmet first hit.
Some other hits that some consider "dirty" are hard, but clean hits that aren't really necessary or could be avoided. Usually these are on a case by case basis for me. One such hit that I considered "dirty" happened when Ed Reed of the Ravens was slowing up on the play as a Steeler reciever was already being tackled and Hines Ward bore in and blasted Reed in the chest. The whistle hadn't blown yet so it was legal, but uncalled for and although I live in Pittsburgh, I thought Ward should have been flagged for unnecessary roughness since he knocked Reed out of the game.
A good hard hit on a reciever with his head down, a blind side shot on a quarterback standing in the pocket, a hard block on a punt or kick return that levels a would be tackler are all part of the game and, well, sh*t happens.
Well, heck. He sure is entitled to his opinion. An NFL player ain’t worth a lick if he doesn’t think can play better than someone else on any given play.
I don’t agree with him, but hey, I’m biased. But then again, so is he...:)
You a Giants fan? I gotta tell you...I LOVED the way they approached that last game of the season with the Pats.
No holds barred, no saving it for some other game, no sitting people out.
My respect for them as a team went way, way up...and THIS from an ex-Redskins fan!
I hope the Pats win, but I have a lot of respect for that team. That last game of the regular season said volumes to me.
Good luck to your guys! (but not TOO much...:)
True...but the two teams got there in much different ways.
Taking nothing away from the Giants (always liked the Giants) the Pats are going to score a lot of points on Sunday.
If the NE defense comes in playing the way they have been in recent weeks, the Giants will be very frustrated.
And wouldn't you know it...??? I am in Boston on business tonight through tomorrow, and to everyone from the cabbie to the desk clerk and barkeep at the Hyatt, I open with "So ya think the Patriots have ANY chance against my Giants?"
Everyone has been good-natured and fun about it (they're even better when I tell them I hate the Yankees as a Mets fan).
The fact that the coach and players made the Pats earn that last-game victory was one of the great moments in sports--for all time. We lost three starters to injury in that game, but it was something that had to be done...
As soon as the Giants are through with the Patriots, I can get back to hoping that the Mets can redeem themselves this year.
I was also glad the Pats didn't sit anyone down, either.
After going to games for the past 14 years with a bunch of season ticket holders (when a ticket was open, they would invite me, and we all go out to Buffalo nearly every year) they asked me if I wanted in...:)
I didn't think I would be, but I was flattered when they asked me. It was like joining a club, and it IS a lot of fun...I can enjoy football for what it is now, which is good. I used to be into it too much back in my youth, and I kind of lost all my perspective on it. Not healthy...if the Pats lose on Sunday, I'll be able to function normally...back in the old days, I might be depressed for a long time. I guess it is one of the good things about getting older...
