Bang Ping!
A. Because a Cop is too heavy.
I always liked that one.
One of my favorites that isn’t on the list.
Gun control: The theory that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her panty hose, is somehow morally superior to a woman explaining to police how her attacker got that fatal bullet wound. L. Neil Smith
Carrying a gun is like having 4 wheel drive....you don’t really need it until you need it very badly !!!
Until you have your weapon in your hand, you are not armed...you are merely packing.
I always liked that one.
The late Barry Sadler was fond of the following:
Q. Why do you carry a gun?
Because hand grenades are heavy, and they hurt my ears.
And then he would take an M26 fragmentation grenade out from under his jacket and roll it around on the table. But it was in addition to his M1911A1 .45 autopistol, not instead of.
For your consideration.
Thank you, Osage.
I always point out to those who think that only authorities should be armed, that in America, the people themselves are armed because the people reserve power for themselves. Once only bureaucrats are armed, that power is fast disappearing. Of course it is anyway, but still.
But theoretically our government does not “rule” us, it instead preserves our liberty. At this point in America’s ever leftward drift, that sounds kind of laughable, but if you have the point of view that we are not “ruled,” and our founding fathers had that point of view, then it makes no sense to arm the state and disarm the people.
As to those who ask what reason there is to own an assault rifle, the reason is that in a free country, members of the citizenry are not obliged to give reasons to the state for their actions, it is quite the opposite - the state must justify its actions to the citizenry. But the answer is that we own assault rifles because we want to, that’s all, and because some day the state might wish to take away our freedom. The day the state starts disarming us is that day.
I knew Barry from around some of the Music Row beer joints in Nashville years ago. Not well, mind you, but enough to know what you’re saying is true.
Personally, I carry a gun because I’m too young to die and too old to take an ass kickin’.
I no more own a gun so I can shoot someone than I own a first kit so I can injure myself .........
Peace & Grace used to rule this place and angels guarded the door. Now Peace is dead and the angels have fled and Grace has turned into a whore. Thus I carry a .44 !
I dont carry a gun
to kill people. I carry a gun to keep from being killed.
I dont carry a gun to scare people. I carry a gun
because sometimes this world can be a scary place.
I dont carry a gun because Im paranoid. I carry a gun
because there are real threats in the world.
I dont carry a gun because Im evil. I carry a gun
because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world.
I dont carry a gun because I hate the government. I carry a gun
because I understand the limitations of government.
I dont carry a gun because Im angry. I carry a gun so that I dont have to
spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared.
I dont carry a gun because I want to shoot someone. I carry a gun because I want to
die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.
I dont carry a gun because Im a cowboy. I carry a gun
because, when I die and go to heaven, I want to be a cowboy.
I dont carry a gun to make me feel like a man. I carry a gun
because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love.
I dont carry a gun because I feel inadequate. I carry a gun
because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate.
I dont carry a gun because I love it. I carry a gun
because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me.
Police Protection is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect themselves.
Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate
the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.
That one was just added to the list.
Happy to contribute
That’s a good way of putting it! :-)

The laser took some getting used to and some tweaking to line it up with the Henie iron sights, but now it's right on and sighted in perfectly for me.
